Save Issues with The Sims 1 Creator

I downloaded the G4TW version of The Sims Complete Collection and I'm having an odd issue with the Sim Creator. I installed the patch and got it running, but despite that whatever I make in it doesn't go into the main game. It saves to the Creator as it can be closed and reopened and the custom stuff will remain, but the files just don't seem to be going where they're supposed to (which is here \Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Skins. Any Idea what's up with it?
