Where o Where did it all go... :(

Ever since i lost all my GB's of space from 290GB to 80Gb.. its been a huge piss off but my own fault for dropping it in the first place, Anyway its always full of shit i know music is a large part but that i know of for sims and music i'll say it's about 16-18GB but what else could possibly be taking it all up?.. 16GB free of all 80GB, I disk clean and defrag but nothing seems to free up, I only have about 7 programs that are small maybe 2-400MB per program..
I cannot update my hard drive for a while, Bills are kicking my ass atm so a suggestion of more space would not help

Hello,
You can use Advanced System Care to scan for large files and folders. You don't need the "Pro" version to do this, and the option is located in the "Toolbox".
The Sims probably takes up a lot of space though. Depending on which EP's and SP's you have. I have only the EP's and my entire install directory is almost 22GB. The folder in "my documents" another 20 (including saves, mods, store updates and CC).
After googling the answer, I see that Win 7 64-bit uses another 20 GB. Now you have your music, some pictures, 7 small programs.
Taking all this into account it makes perfect sense that you only have 16 GB left.
How about your external, you dropped it? Is it absolutely busted? You may be able to fix it, or have it fixed.

Space goes fast with Windows over-bloated OS, thats true. Having a HDD fixed is a lot more expensive than buying a new one, for around $70.00 you can get a 1 TB external drive, cheaper if you look online, whereas fixing a 500 GB HDD costs around $250.00 - $400.00 depending on what needs replacing (platter(s), Read/Write arm, etc.). One trick you can try if its a external HDD that has been dropped,is to remove the HDD from the external case and place it as a slave inside the PC.
@Lady ElDi, only 20 GB? lol I use AnyGameStarter 3 so my Sims 3 My Documents folder is over 80 GB.
But I also have 5 different Sims 3 games going.

LOL that is a large folder. I only have a handful of mods/cc. My pc will blow up if I tried to do more.
I was thinking of having it fixed with someone who's good at these things rather than paying for it. I have an old 100 GB external that was dropped once, my father opened it up and fixed it. It shouldn't be dropped again, but it works fine.
My 1TB external wasn't expensive either, it might be worth putting some money aside every month for it even if you can't afford it right now.

I thought I was being smart and spending less money by doing so... until I found out those are almost all 5200 RPM drives, which will slow down your PC quite noticeably. (But then I got an SSD, lol. I'm a happy man now.)
If you want to find out what files are taking up most space on your disk(s) - I personally love Treesize (Free), which you can download here: https://www.jam-software.de/customers/downloadTrial.php?article_no=80&language=EN&PHPSESSID=nde9r4djckhtq4nid6p2d8j6p2
