Brain fried after trying to install expansions + patch multiple times. Can someone run me through it.

Hey. Just want to say thanks to everyone who offers up their help on here. It's been a good resource for me so far.

Ok so I have been running the RELOADED base version of the Sims for a while now with no problems and I got a bit frustrated with the lack of buyable items for my house and wanted the Pets expansion too. I used to download items in the Sims 1, and found out that people still make mods for the games.

So I went to some Sims modding sites, downloaded a heap of new item sets, found out the game needed to be patched to use them and so I patched it with the modthesims patch. When I tried to open it, it said I needed the disk to play it, meaning that my no disk crack was probably replaced with one from the patch. I tried various combinations of patching/cracking etc but the furthest I could get in to the game was clicking play in the launcher and crashing.

I came on here and found that this site has every expansion, so I downloaded pets expecting to be able to put it on top of my RELOADED copy at least but it turns out it's an .exe file and I can't use it.

I'm close to just buying the disks on ebay since this is so frustrating.

I was wondering if someone could help me get the game and the expansions working with no disk on my mac. I'm running a 2008 macbook pro that doesn't seem to like the game, but it'll play it find if I don't tab between other things at the same time. At the very least I'd like Pets and the World Adventures EP.

Is there a dummy guide that will get me through it from start to end, preferably with locations for me to download things from? I have noticed that there is different cracks, asking you to replace different files so I have no idea if mixing cracks and patches is a good or bad idea, I'm not a developer.

I would like to download some custom items, but right now I'm more interested in getting the games working.
