Sims Crashing in Map View
Hello, I recently encountered that my sims crashes every single time I go into map view-pressing M. The map loads for like 2 seconds and then screen freezes, followed by the black screen and the infamous "Sims 3 has stopped working" thingy.
I'm running it on Win8 x64 on a laptop. Specs easily qualify and I'm running it on full-graphics. I've already tried DEP, 4 gb patch-which sadly did not accomplish anything at all, its ram usage never even bypasses 2 gigs. Editted Sims3.ini file to setmemoryusagelimit to 4 gb, removed my mods and tried again which resulted in absolutely the same result only difference being faster loading times.
Is there another way for me to play it?
PS: It sometimes crashes w/out going into mapview yet it is really rare occurence, happens only twice in 4-5 days.

Hello,
Have you tried clearing the following caches:
-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

I did what you said and seems to be there arent any problems for now, after playing for like an hour. I'll post if something happens.
Thank you.

Re: Sims Crashing in Map View
Sorry to bother again but after vigorous testing I found that the problem still persists, clearing caches-alongside the folders- helped for few times but after a while even though I was still launching the game after cleaning the cache, game crashes in map view.
So another magical solution?

Hello,Shadowbuq wrote:Already removed my Downloads and Mods folders while testing
Removing Downloads folder doesn't mean the CC you installed is removed. Please move all the content of DCCache folder and back them up. Afterwards, run the game to see if there is any difference.

Do you have any expansion pack(s)/stuff pack(s) installed? And where did you get the base game from?

I am trying to figure out this problem in an aspect of installation, so please answer my questions carefully and sincerely:
(1) Did you update via manual patch, which can be downloaded here?
(2) Did you apply the Ultimate Fix correctly? Is the Ultimate Fix the latest version (1.55)? If yes, did you drag and drop the content of the #crack folder of the Ultimate Fix to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin?

Re: Sims Crashing in Map View
I installed everything following the threads in this forum and manually applied the ultimate fix to the game directory.
Trying Joker's method now.

Be sure to back up the saves in C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves.

Re: Sims Crashing in Map View
So I renamed my original Sims 3 folder to something else and launched the game afterwards, chose Bridgeport-as it is the most memory consuming- and everything seems fine for now. I'm dwelling on the possibility that the problem might be occuring due to the custom world that I'm running with-Evansdale County- which is huge compared to default Sims worlds.
I'll add everything into the mix back again except the custom world to see how things will play around.
