Sims 3 white map view?
Ok, so I installed Sims 3 yesterday, all expansions and stuff packs (except Katty Perry's stuff) and I have this problem:
Everything in the map view is white, but when I am out of map view it's all fine.. It's like this:
My computer is not the best (GT 320 video card with latest drivers from Nvidia), however I don't think that is the problem. I'm running the Windows 8 release preview. It all worked fine on Windows 7..
I know about this thread, and I saw one recommendation which was to enable Windows 7 compatibly mode on Sims, which actually fixes the map problem, but causes a new problem where it is very dark..
Anyone know how to fix that?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
How exactly do you mean dark? Is it as if the birghtness setting is too low? You might be able to fix that on your monitor.

Yeah, like low brightness. My monitor is always on the maximum brightness setting though
Edit: weird.. I took a screenshot using Fraps and it came out normal.. Still looks dark in person though..
Took a photo:
Without compatibility mode:
With:
First image still looks dark, but I guess that's because I'm taking the photo with a phone..

Hello,
There is a difference though.
It's highly possible that there'as not much you can do about this. Even though you've put it in compatibility mode, you're still running the game in an OS that's not supported by The Sims 3 (yet). There could be all kinds of compatibility issues with hardware (drivers) etc.
I don't remember if there's an option to change brightness in game, you could try that.
Is it unplayable like this, or something you could get used to?

Thanks, and sorry for my late reply.
It is maybe a bit optimistic of me to think that a game will work 100% fine on an OS it wasn't made for. There is no brightness slider, and I tried to get used to it, but it was just too dark.
There are many other bugs when not running in compatibility mode, the map one is the most annoying though. Compatibility fixes them all, but of course creates the dark screen issue
Anyway, thanks for your help I'll continue to play, I just can't wait until Windows 8 is released and EA update the Sims for it
