Hi.
I know you already answered a question just like this one but the way you resolved it for the other person doesn't work for me.
I have been having constant issues trying to download the base game.

//EDIT

Hi,
I've followed your instructions but when it was time to apply the manual patch I ran into a problem:

"The sims 3 update cannot continue because programs associated with L are currently running.
Please stop the applications before attempting to update"

The only programs running on my laptop is the internet and the patch. Everything else is closed out. I even unmounted the discs from the base game installation. I closed out Winrar completely and all the files that are associated with the sims 3.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I merged your posts into one thread. What do you mean by "the only programs running on my laptop is the internet and the patch" ? What patch ? Did the manual patch finish the update or not ?

Are you sure you also have the launcher of The Sims 3 closed ?
