How to deactivate account?
Not sure if in correct thread, but it is off-topic in games I guess.
How do I deactivate my account in this forum? I'm in the process of rebranding myself and came up with a new username.

Hello,
I moved your post. There is a passage in the new Forum FAQ about this. You can find the link to the new FAQ in my signature or among the Sticky-topics in the News-section.
- How do I delete my Forum account:
- Keep in mind that the Forum Administrators generally do NOT delete Forum accounts. Similar as with username changes, the administrative effort can be significant, if users repeatedly create new accounts and then request their deletion. If you want to have your account deleted, you will need to contact a Forum Administrator individually, and give a good reason as to why you want us to delete your account. If we decide not to grant your request, you still have the option to delete your own account, by means of this external form here. If you decide to do this on your own, please note that the Administrators will not delete any Forum messages you have made either (unless they convey any personal information or are otherwise offensive or inappropriate). You will need to edit/delete these messages on your own - prior to deleting your account.

Re: How to deactivate account?
Apologies, I actually wanted to change my username, and thought if it's not possible, then have my account deactivated instead. I'm currently in the process of rebranding myself and a consistent username throughout all accounts is really important to me. (Also because mild OCD kicking in, LOL)

There is also a passage on username changes though.
- How do I change my Forum username:
- The Forum Administrators have disabled the ability for individual users to change their usernames, in order to preserve consistency between Forum discussions and their associated participants. You have the option to contact a Forum Administrator and request an individual exception, and thereby a username change. Keep in mind that you need to give a very good reason when doing so. Simply stating that e.g. you do not like your old name anymore is not sufficient. You should be aware though that because the administrative effort behind this can be significant (we get this type of request very frequently), we ultimately do not change usernames easily. At this point we can only give you this here as a guideline: be friendly, honest and forthcoming about your reasoning as to why exactly we should change your username. Finally, even if we do decide to change your username, we only grant such an exception once for every individual user.
You should also know, that requests for username changes are granted very, very rarely. Saying "I don't like my old name anymore" is not enough. Mostly, if username changes do happen, it is because the old username gives an identifiable clue as to the real-life persona of the user or because the old username is somehow inappropriate.
Seeing that your current account has only 7 posts, it may be the easiest solution for you to just create a new account, and go from there.
