Re: New Laptop
Hello,
This looks like a very decent laptop. I think it's worth trying.

Hello PianoChick,
My advised to you is: Each time you want to buy a computer or hardware always make a choice depend your budget. And tell people about your budget. It'll make easier for people to suggest best bang for buck stuff

Hi there,Pianochiick wrote:anything under $1200 AU
Woah, it's not hard to find something good for that budget, I guess.
So, are you really looking for a laptop? Not a desktop computer?

If you have a local PC store, you should ask them there. Usually they do have such service.

Re: New Laptop
I'll mainly use it for sims 3 and movies, uni assignments and such, so I need a desktop/laptop that can do everything I need it to do

Ok, so you don't need a very expensive PC.

I'd also like it to be fast and the best at the moment cause I don't want it to be out dated within a few years

The best? If you want to be prepared for the future, go for i7 processor second generation.
Though, those are pretty expensive for your purposes, so I recommend an i5.

Actually, you cannot noticed any different between i5 and i7 unless if you doing multitasking. The fast that you're mentioning can be upgrade by changing the existing HDD to SSD. Google about SSD.

However, SSD's are pretty expensive. If you go for a PC, one SSD and a HDD should be OK. (Install the OS on the SSD for best result)
Though, if you want to get a laptop, SSD is going to be hard...

Re: New Laptop
Uh, I'd reccommend i7 on a laptop personally, I don't do much multitasking but I often find I'm using 4 or 8 threads with hefty programs...I think in the future it'll become more and more common for programs to use lots of threads. And for Sims 3, any i series laptop with any dedicated graphics card should be fine, even shared would probably be okay!
