SIM3 PETS - FLASHING SCREEN & CRASHING Empty SIM3 PETS - FLASHING SCREEN & CRASHING

(If I'm not posting this in the right place can somebody tell me where I need to post please?)

I installed Pets today after a lot of help from this site Smile I created my family and house fine, everything was running smoothly with the gameplay, but when I actually begin to play the game, after about ten minutes the screen starts flashing from dark to light continuously and I can't do anything at all, the game is froze this way. Another time the game did this, then crashed with the message 'The sims 3 encountered a problem and had to close'.
Any help for the flashing screen & crashing would be much appreciated, so annoying after all the help to install the game, & then it messes up on me Sad

Hello,
That's an indication of a graphicsproblem. What kind of graphicscard do you have? How old is it?

Ok that should do it. Check your drivers though. And how long have you had this graphics card? Are you experiencing graphics problems with other games?

Umm since I've had the computer, only a couple of years, I installed previous expansion packs like late night and ambitions and they both worked fine. Never had this problem with a game before Sad

Pets is a little more demanding than previous titles. Perhaps Admin can shed a little more light on this subject, he knows much more about hardware than I do.

Hello,
According to several sources, the card should support the Pets expansionpack. Its the 6100&7100 series that are no longer supported.
But I did find that the flashing screen that occurs before crashing could be an indication of a failing card, or it may be overheating.

Hi, I started my game and went into options, setting everything in gameplay to 'low' .. this seems to have stopped the flashing screen problem, but my game still crashes to a black screen after about ten minutes maximum, then reverting to the desktop with the message 'the sims 3 has encountered a problem and has to close' .. I still hear the sound when the black screen appears, but it does eventually close completely. Sad

WhatDidUJustCallMe? I spoke too soon... flashing screen has returned! In some
games I get the flashing screen then crash, others I get what I
mentioned above. This is both with and without custom content installed.
