Is there a torrent for dummies thread? [SOLVED]

Really. I've no clue how to download a torrent, or a stuff pack, or EP. Not one clue what to do.
I did try to download Master Suite, got some torrent thingie with a bunch of numbers, I think, then I panicked and just deleted it. (embarrassed) But, if I don't 'fess up to this, how will I ever learn?
I don't have trouble with the files like the Casino, for example, but there's no torrent involved with those.

have d'loaded Master Suite. Haven't done the "READ CAREFULLY" steps yet
but I'm headed in that direction!

Don't worry, we're here to help!
In order to download .torrent files or open .magnet files, you'll need a Bittorrent Client first. I recommend using www.utorrent.com - uTorrent. The .torrent file or .magnet link will automatically open in uTorrent and start downloading. (It may take a while to "start" the download up)

When finished, it'll say "Seeding" next to the torrent in uTorrent. That means the torrent finished downloading and you're now "Seeding" (Read: uploading), so other people can download from you too, just like you downloaded from other "Seeders".
Right-click on the torrent file in uTorrent and choose "Open folder" (Something like that). It'll now take you to the actual downloaded file. If downloaded from Games4theworld, it should be a .rar file.

You can install Games4theworld torrents as follows:

Open the .rar file you downloaded using only WinRar, which can be downloaded from www.games4theworld.org . (If you use any other software than WinRar, like WinZip or 7-zip, the files will get messed up!) When you've opened the file using WinRar, select áll the files in it and drag & drop them to a folder on your Desktop. When the extraction is done, close the .rar file and open the folder on your Desktop.
Now, start by reading the included "# Installation Guide.txt" and you should be able to get the game to work yourself.

Thanks for that great information. Lucky thing I said no, when it wanted 7zip, I think it was. I just liked WinRar better so for that reason alone, I kept it. Good thing!
That's a really handy link, but you know I'll likely blow up my computer now.
I got Master Suite running slick as you please!

Practically, yes. Just don't apply any "# Crack" folders that come with the torrents, those have become obsolete. Just use the latest crack that comes with the Ultimate Fix.

No, it if works, don't fix what isn't broken.
If you get any problems, re-download the latest version of the Ultimate Fix and then re-apply it.

Don't forget that we update the Fix whenever a new update for the game is released, so that you always have the latest version of the working crack. Thus, always be sure to re-download the Fix when you want to (re-)apply it.

I have Showtime and Master Suite installed from here. So if I got, say, Town Life, or one of the earlier Stuff Packs, does it needs its own crack as well or would Showtime's crack be the latest and good enough for the earlier Packs?

Yes, indeed, whenever you update the game, the old crack becomes out-dated and won't work any more.

Good question, since the release of The Sims 3: Generations, there's no more need to crack every expansion separately. All you need to do now is crack the base game and it'll automatically work for all the expansions too. LOL, you've been reading my mind, I see. Yep, thinkin' of all those OTHER stuff packs. Thanks for leaving this open. I may need it.

Funny thing happened. I installed overwatch last night after playing, and this morning my game wouldn't work. I took out overwatch and I reinstalled the crack, and it worked. Curious where the crack had disappeared to! Weird.
