Sims 3 crashes on Windows 8

I followed all the instructions to install Sims 3 up to Showtime and every time i try to open a neighborhood it crashes and shows this window.
I used the sims 3 from here to install on my other computer successfully so i'm familiar with installing it on windows 7 and xp.

Hello,
There are some compatibility issues between Windows 8 and The Sims 3. Make sure you have all the latest drivers to begin with, and try running it in compatibility mode.
