Download content caused error (Sims 3 University).[SOLVED] Empty Download content caused error (Sims 3 University).[SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sun 28 Apr 2013, 10:06

I have this problem a long time ago. so, here's my prob. i've downloaded many contents for my sims 3, with .sims3pack format. i've +700 downloaded contents with .sims3pack format. but, some of them makes my game goes error. i can only make and save 1 sim for once launching my game, can't change my sims's clothes or appearance from cupboard either mirror. if i do all of those, my sims 3 will be not responding and stop working. and i can only play my sims around 30 mins, and it'll be stop working. is there any application to detect any error in download content or any solution except removing all those download contents from download folder? thanks for helping and sorry if my grammar wrong.

Hello there,

The easiest way is probably this here: go to Documents/Electronic Arts and rename the "Sims 3" folder (like this: "The Sims 3old"). After you start the game, a new Sims 3 folder will be created...
OK now start a new savegame and see if you still have problems. You should also read
this here, if you haven't done that already Smile

If you suspect that the problem is one of your ".sims3packs", then there's another (bit more tricky) way: go to Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 and find a folder called "DCCache". Copy/Backup that folder to another location (Desktop,..); backup your "Downloads" folder too. Then delete both folders!
If you are playing a custom/downloadable world (either an "unofficial" world or a world that did not come with an expansion pack: Hidden Springs, Lunar Lakes, Riverview, Lucky Palms, Barnacle Bay, Sunlit Tides, Monte Vista, Aurora skies), then you have to re-install that world first - otherwise you can't start your savegame.
To be sure, delete the cache files too: (in "The Sims 3" folder)

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Alright, now start the game and see if you still have that problem. In both solutions you will probably see a window that says "some custom content is missing and has been replaced with other things". That's not bad - just close that window and go to CAS mode.

If you have any .sims3packs that were not made by EA, you should not install them. But if you just downloaded the official "store content" you should be fine. If you re-install with the launcher, don't install all your packs at once! Just take small groups of packs each time (I know that takes lot of time). Or use
CC Magic

That should do it for the moment
Laughing
Good luck !

Hello,

Nice to hear that. And again: remember that custom content not made by EA (.sims3packs or .packages) tends to cause problems. You should also clear caches from time to time, but especially before installing new mods, expansions and patches.
Alright, happy simming
Very Happy
