Sims3Launcher has stopped working message?? after downloading aurora skies

Hi,
I have the sims 3, ambitions, world adventures, pets, seasons and 80's stuff pack.
When i first installed sims 3 and pets i had problems with the game collapsing with the message coming up
with sims3Launcher has stopped working.. which i came on here and sorted it out but now a few months later
ive got the same problem again?? it started happening today, i installed aurora skies last night i got it free from a website
but i got confused and deleted all files so i could restart it, so as i reinstalled it i didnt have to everything i did when i tried the first time as i dont think i deleted all the files so it just installed on my game itself.. i was playing it all last night and for 4 hours today when it shut down half way through and now it wont even let me click play when my launcher is up as i get the sims3launcher message.. is there a way to fix this?? as i dont want to delete aurora skies! PLEASE HELP

Hello there,

Go to the following location: C:/Program files(x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin. You should now see a file with the name TS3W.exe. What happens if you double-click on it ?

Also go to the following location: My documents/Electronic Arts and rename the folder with the name "The Sims 3", for example like this here: "The Sims 3_". Start the game, then start a new savegame (don't worry, your old savefile is still in the renamed folder). Now see if you realise any differences.

Thanks for replying!

I renamed it like you said, also double clicked on the file and it launched my game!
Is it fixed? what happened? and will it be ok now or will i get the message come up again>

Looks like good news Very Happy

. Play for a while, to see if you have any error messages coming up again. But for now, make a shortcut (to the desktop) for the TS3W.exe file.

If you want to play your old savegame, then do this: go to the folder you renamed. Then go to the folder "Saves". Look for a folder with the name of your old savefile. Now you have to copy that folder to your NEW location: "The Sims 3/Saves". If you have done that correctly, you should see your old savegame in the main menu.

What might be a problem is if you want to install ".sims3pack" files (Store items or custom content). In that case, have a look at this tool here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=461888

I'm not sure, but if you want to use the launcher for installing .sims3packs, you may have to un-install all your Sims 3 games. So I would go with CC Magic Very Happy

When it launched it still came up with my saved games anyway?
So pressed exit and tried my normal launcher and it worked without the message coming up?

If the message ends up showing again i will try all what you have said deleting all games will be my last resort as i brought things from the
store and will probably loose them No shit, Sherlock.

If you really renamed "The Sims 3"-folder, then your old savefile should not be there, actually. But maybe I'm mistaking about this Razz

If you wait for a while, until the Admin here has re-uploaded all the store items at another download account, then you can download them anyway, so you don't have to buy anything Very Happy

Where do i go to get them all back?

I renamed my folder what you said the sims 3_
i
just went onto my old folder the sims 3 to look a my saved items
nothing wa there so i went on my new folder and its all in there but
when i launch my game nothings there?

Yes, that is a consequence of "renaming" the Sims 3 folder. But go again to your renamed folder. Inside go to the folder "Downloads". What do you see ?
I have never done that myself (until now), but try this:

1) In your OLD Sims 3 folder, copy "DCCache", "Downloads" and "Installed Worlds".
2) Now paste all of this into your NEW Sims 3 folder. If a message pops up, then just select "Replace all".

By the way: Your OLD folder is this: "The Sims 3_".
Your NEW folder is this here: "The Sims 3" Wink

will al my items that i brought from the store be on the new games if restart?
I dont mind restarting if i still have my objects and everything i brought?
also i downloaded aurora skies thats not on there how do i get that back? i cant find it in my saves as i never made a family in that world

I know this game can be very annoying, but we should try to be focussed Wink

OK, do you have your ".sims3packs" that you downloaded somewhere ? You should normally have them as a backup (for example: USB-stick or an external hard-drive). This is the easiest way.

If you don't have them anymore, again, look at my suggestion above: go to The Sims 3_. Then you copy the following folders: Saves, DCCache, Downloads and Installed Worlds.

Now you go to The Sims 3. There you just paste all of this, what you copied before.

And: if something doesn't work - and you lose the things that you bought, then you can re-download them soon - for free.

ive just done all that clicked the launcher and it says New Store Content Patch Available - new patch for your sims 3 store content shall i download the latest patch? i dont know what this is? as i was all up to date before

Yes, do this. And then start the game, either with the launcher or with the "TS3W.exe" shortcut I told you about Wink

Hi again :O

I've been playing aurora skies which has been fine, my cousin wanted to play so I set her up a game in sunset valley and it started coming up with the message again and collapsing the game
Any ideas??

Hello again,

Well, it was good that I didn't close the topic Surprised

. But OK, go to My documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 and delete the following files:

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Let's see if that helps.

, so "The Sims 3".

We needed the backup folder "The Sims 3_" because we wanted to copy your CC and old saves into your new game. Imagine what would have happened if you actually deleted the folder, instead of renaming it Wink

. I would still keep "The Sims 3_" for a while.

If you have only deleted what I told you, then your "Aurora skies" world should still be there Wink

.

The "World Caches" folder is there because it can make the loading of a world a bit faster. But if there are problems, you should delete the contents of that folder - like the other cache files.
