Sims 3 Generations - Update issue

Hi all - firstly a big thanks to all who support and create the sims 3 downloads

Secondly - I've encountered an issue where I can't get the latest update to work (8. something) - I have applied the ultimate fix with the same result - says invalid file. And although the game still works without this update I would like to have it just in case.

I have an original base game and the rest are torrented - I have all expansions and stuffs, and have followed all the instructions included in the downloads.

So my question is how can I get the update to work? I searched the forum, and think the following will work but wanted to make sure : Uninstall all expansion packs and stuff packs, reinstall generations first and then the rest and apply the ultimate fix?

Hi there. I have recently written an installation guide for installing the sims 3 as of the release of Generations. You will find a link down below in my signature. I hope this helps you figure out whats wrong.

Ok so far I've encountered just a small problem - not sure if it'll affect the working of the game down the line so I thought I'd ask first.

Favorlock - I'm currently up to: Install “The Sims 3; Ambitions”
> Update “The Sims 3; Ambitions” to version 4.10.1

I've installed it fine but when going to update it, the game says that I'm already uptodate :/ Even though in the bottom left hand corner it says Version: 4.0.87.011001

I've pressed refresh and even uninstalled it and installed it again but it's still adamant that its "up to date" -.-

Shall I just continue on and install the next expansion?

Hello,

Yes, just continue to the next expansion, that one will ask you to update during the installation wizard. Just choose "Yes" and it should all be fine.

Woohoo - it works ty

However it did come up with a warning about it being a modified version and that if you continued you may experience glitches yada yada.... What I want to know tho, as I also noticed that the welcome page in the launcher menu was blank, does this mean that I won't beable to download content direct from the website via the game? (But probably would beable to download them straight from the website and copy them over I would imagine)?

Hello,

The warning is normal for now, just click "Continue" and start the game, which should be there; minimized on your taskbar.
The blank menu is probably because it's a cracked version of the game. You can't download content from their website anyway, if you do not have a valid serial code for the game.
But if you do, yes, you can download them manually and then add them to the game. Note that we have plans on releasing a stuff pack soon. For now, good luck and have fun playing!
