There's not really one single way to convert, I mean, really it's just researching, and deciding that's what you want to be/ believe in, then following the rules of that religion. It's an entirely personal choice, and how you go about it would be different for each individual.

How to convert (Blah Blah) to (Christianity) Empty Re: How to convert (Blah Blah) to (Christianity)

Post by Guest Thu 07 Mar 2013, 22:40

Well, if you're serious, you gotta really believe in it. Contrary to popular belief, religion is something deep and spiritual inside you. My recommendation is to go to a local Christian church and ask them about the religion. There maybe they could teach you about it and you can determine if you think it's right for you.

Whatever you do, from a Christian, God bless.

Oh and be aware, not all of us are hateful, secular bigots. Be sure to be a free thinker if you become a Christian and don't tie yourself to the Bible.

If you really want to be a Christian first you must know that you will suffer for Christ as  he suffer for you. Are you willing to suffer for Him?

Hello,

If you're serious about this, start by reading the Bible and find out more about Jesus. It's not complicated.

Hello,

True. Read the bible and decide if you believe it or not. If you don't understand the Bible, go to the nearest church and ask a pastor about it and decide if you really want to convert your belief. Seriously, there isn't a need to ask us, since the choice is yours.Smile

In the country where I am, which is largely Roman-catholic, you are obliged to pay a so-called "church tax" (the amount of which depends on how much you earn), if you are either catholic or evangelic. Yes, this has led many people here to "leave the church", like I did a few years ago. Even if you really believe in all that, why are the people forced to pay money for their belief ?

But don't worry, I would be VERY surprised, if there was the same system in any other country in the world.

Even most other devout catholic countries (like Spain, Italy, Brazil or Poland) don't have something comparable like the "Austrian way".

Oh wow, I never heard of that before. Donations are, of course, appreciated in church, but not an obligation. At least not in my country.

Appreciated and forgotten about.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be easier to tell everybody that you're Christian instead of going through all this baptism mumbo-jumbo? Just saying, it's not like you receive a certificate or a license for getting baptized...

I've never left a church without making a donation.

Of course that would be easier, you don't need to make anything "official".

Weird. Over here, religious institutions can release certificates but they are in no way mandatory, you have to ask (and pay, yes) for them. They are mostly just for schools, so that, at least in theory, kids who are of a different religion don't have to participate in Religion classes in school (which is strictly Christian Orthodox). Atheism counts too.

This is just theory though. In reality Religion teachers have to get paid, and to get paid, they need to teach, and to teach, they need students. If everybody gets an Atheism certificate to skip Religion classes (like I did), there won't be enough students attending them. It's all a load of bull, especially since Religion teachers are qualified to teach some degree of History as well, but whatever.

There are different schools here. There are Catholic schools, Protestant schools, Atheist schools, Islamic schools (etc.). Parents will know what to expect when a kid is enrolled in (primary) school. Most of a childs' religious education will be taken care of by the parents though.

Hello,

In my city, students in a school with religious belief either mandatorily have religious lessons (or lessons combining moral and religious eduation together) or are requested to join the school's religious rituals, regardless of their religious or atheistic beliefs. Nevertheless, since my city is a city with freedom of religion, there are no obligations forcing you to believe or pay for baptizing certificates (We don't even have to pay for the certificates). Protestant churches won't even bother if you donate for them or not. (I don't know much about Catholic churches. I never attend their church services.) Well, you can even get a tax reduction by donating to them.

It's not related the subject directly and I am not Christian but I think education should be religion-free. Someone can be a well educated human being without religion, but I doubt he can serve all the people just with religion, without education. As Lady ElDi said it should be taken care of by parents, because religion is something inside, it shouldn't affect where you go, what you eat, whom you be with. That's why people divide into groups and fighting each other and killing people with the name of God.. (like the Muslim terorists)

And making people pay for their religions... That's the thing I hate and that's the thing we're still resisting in Turkey. Religion should be something like glue, sticking people together, whether you're from the same religion or nor. But some "smart" people using it and some "not smart" people buying those lies and here we are the 21th century still fighting with each other. And unfortunately, it's all the same aroud the world, maybe in different shapes yet it's the same :/

And to the subject owner, I hope you find peace whatever you choose.

Oh I agree. My kids go to a religion-free school. One of the reasons is that I'm in a multi-culti relationship, my kids are 50% Dutch/50% Moroccan, and he's a muslim. But the kids will learn about both religions and find their own way. It will make them truly individual.
I never understood the fighting, it's clearly not meant to be fought over and I wish people would embrace similarities rather than fight over differences. In the end, you only have to take responsibility for your self, your actions, your religion. Not someone else's. So why kill each other over it?

You must be from the 21st century. There is no religion-free school here. Hell there is no religion-free anything here.

The more things change the more they stay the same. It's been almost 2000 years since the Roman Empire raped our women and forced the us to accept their rule and culture, yet today we're still a bunch of religious neanderthals.
