Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing Empty Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing

Post by Guest Tue 02 Jul 2013, 00:31

Just got it to work, finally. Loaded up the game and went to CAS to create a new sim, noticed 99% of the CC is missing. Is this a compatibility issue with the new patch? Or what's happening? I can't figure it out.

Hello,

Can you check if your CC is in this folder: C:\Users\(name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCCache? There is a huge file called xxx.dbc. That's where all you installed Custom Content is. If you can see the huge file but they cannot be seen in the game, then try reinstalling if you have the sims3packs. If not, you better remove the following cache:

-CASPartCache.package
 -compositorCache.package
 -scriptCache.package
 -simCompositorCache.package
 -socialCache.package
 -plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Do you have any mods? If yes, I can suggest a method for mod packages.

I checked for xxx.dbc and it wasn't there, so I went ahead and deleted all the caches you listed as well as "thumbnails" and "worldcaches". "WorldCaches" actually wasn't in the folder, so I transferred it from my previous 'The Sims 3' folder that I deleted and emptied it. I restarted the game and the CC still doesn't show up. What do you mean you can suggest a method for mod packages?

EDIT: Also, now that I ran the game to see if the CC is working, which it isn't, I am checking for that xxx.dbc file and it's still not there.

Hello,

That means your CC is gone, I am afraid, because the installed custom content (third party) are often shown as .dbc.
Do you have any packages installed? If yes, try this.

 Strange, all the CC shows up in the launcher. Will try installing it all once more through the launcher to see if that works, because it shows up there. I do have .package files installed, yes.

 If you don't mind, can you meet me in chat? I'll be there.

//EDIT

So I did everything we talked about last night. I also finished going through all the CC and deleted all the CC that was causing the game to not start up. Then I put back all the CC, and black screen again! I don't understand. I went through all the CC in small groups again, and the game worked, there was no more erronous CC. Again, when I put it all together back in the packages folder, the game wouldn't start. I have no idea what is causing this..

Hello there,

(Time to jump in for me). Very Happy

So what kind of "CC" are we talking about ? Do you mean that you have problems with ".sims3packs" ? If yes, you might try the suggestions in this topic here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t2208-sims3pack-installed-world-inaccessible-or-wont-install-fix

This will basically remove all your installed ".sims3packs". Of course, you have to re-install them afterwards. One more thing: where did you download your ".sims3pack" files from ? While it may sound radical, I suggest you only download and install the official Sims 3 store content. And leave out ALL other CC in the ".sims3pack" file format. The main reason I suggest this is that if you download "third party" .sims3packs, and they are corrupted one way or another, then it might be tricky to remove them.

If you, however, have problems with ".package" files, you might try "Delphy's Dashboard" (google for that). Let that tool scan your ".packages". If it finds any corrupted ".packages", then remove them.

Also, you need to inform yourself about all your .package CC. Maybe you need to update one or more of them.

 My CC consists of .package and .sims3pack files. I do not have access to official Sims 3 content. I have tried, currently and in the past, Delphy's dashboard and it has not been helpful. All my mods are updated. I ran all the CC through in groups of 5 and less and removed all the ones that were causing issues. In small groups, the CC was not causing issues and the game was starting up fine. When I scanned through all the CC and removed the buggy ones, I put all the CC back into the folder and started the game and it didn't work. What I don't understand, is if the game runs with the CC in the folder in small groups, and doesn't cause any issues separately, what could be causing the game to not start with all the CC in the folder at once?

Hello again,

About your ".sims3packs" - please remove all of them for now (click on the link I showed you above for the .sims3packs).

Your problem with the ".package" is most likely what I call a "conflict of mods". This conflict can be that you cannot have two or more particular mods at the same time in your "Mods" folder. Inn THAT case, putting the mods back in one-by-one will not help you, I'm afraid.

So for now tell me what ".package" files you have. You might even post a screenshot of the following location: My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mod/Packages. Do you know how to post screenshots ?

To make a screenshot, press Prt Scr which is ( USUALLY ) next to F12 , on top of Insert , and next to Scroll Lock. Then you open, for example, a program like "Microsoft Paint" and select the option "Paste". Now you should see your screenshot - then you save your picture.

To upload a picture here, click on "Host image", then select your screenshot. After that you should get the URL (the "internet link") for that picture. Now you go to "Insert image" (the symbol on the right next to "Host image") and paste the URL.

In "Host an image", please select "Resolution 1024x". Smile

//EDIT

Basically you have to make sure that there are no conflicts between your mods, by reading the descriptions of your downloads very carefully. Wink

If you don't want to go through this process, then the only solution (for now) is for you to leave out ALL ".package" files.

If you don't want to go through this process, then the only solution (for now) is for you to leave out ALL ".package" files.

 Will go try the link you provided. Meanwhile, here are the screenshots:

Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing 111
Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing 210
Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing 310
Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing 410

//EDIT

I looked over the link you provided. I have packaged CC that were condensed into packages, and if I uninstall I'll lose all of it because I don't have the originals.

EDIT: I suppose I'd like to leave deleting all my CC as a last resort. Anything else I can do?

EDIT: In case this works and helps someone else in the future, after I sorted through the package files on my own, and it didn't work, I had another idea. I used S3PE to repackage all my .package files (which has worked in the past to eliminate problems), and then I downloaded TS3 recompressor to fix all broken/erroneous .sims3pack files and compress them and run the newly "decrapped" and compressed .sims3pack files through the launcher. After all that, I will try running the game again and will update on whether or not it cleared up the issue.

 UPDATE: It's loading up!!

 UPDATE: Everything's been working fine. Created my new sims in CAS, all the CC was there. Started playing the game and went into build mode and the game crashed. I checked the file xcpt [name] 13-07-02 18.39.00 and to find the reason it crashed and this was what it listed:

type: ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000004
address: 0x00e9390b "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe":0x0001:0x00a9290b

Any ideas as to what that could mean?

//EDIT

I tried to fix the recent issue of crashing at saving. Cleared DCCache and DCbackup after using Delphy's Dashboard to clear up any issues. All mods are updated, and Delphy's isn't picking up any issues anywhere. After doing all this I opened the game and some of the CC seems to be gone (noticed the cc hair on my sim is an original content hair) and when I used mastercontroller to try to take her to CAS, the game crashed. Checked the crash log and it said custom content. I've spent countless hours doing everything possible to fix this game already this week and I haven't even gotten to play IP yet. I've sorted through all CC a million times, used any application possible to help solve the issues, sorted all my CC into categories and made sure all my mods are updated. Argh. Help, please.

Hello,

I agree with Carlos. G. Conflicting mods cannot be solved unless you read the creators' descriptions on CC carefully and see it there are updates. But I am afraid you should delete conflicting packages. That's all you can do to solve.

Hello,

Sorry for the "delay", but I also have lots of other things going on besides this forum here. Wink

Anyway: for now, there is not much I can suggest to you - if you really insist that you read everything - then be it.

You might just take a few mods/CC that you really want to keep, and try the game then. Maybe if you reduce the number of mods, it might be easier (at a later point) to find out where the conflict is.

 I don't have that many mods or that much CC. I filtered through all of it. Where are the admins? They were able to help me in the past.

Firstly, I would like to ask you to stay friendly. The fact that no other Helper/Mod/Admin has joined in so far is (pretty much) self-explanatory, namely because I have said almost eveything there is to say already. One last thing you could try is to use this "resource.cfg" file:
http://skuld.modthesims.info/Resource.cfg

Put this file into My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods. Replace the existing file, and see if that helps. If you're lucky, it will help you with the ".package" files.

Also, it would be a lot of work, if I had to read through all the descriptions of these CC you have; from my first look at the screenshots, most of them seem to be clothing/hairstyles/buy-mode items etc. So in theory there shouldn't be any problem normally. Maybe I will indeed have a more closer look at these CC, but not today.

//EDIT

Another idea might be not to "compress" your ".sims3pack" or ".package" files. This might be useful if you have TONS of CC, which is, from what you tell me, not the case anymore ?

I wasn't trying to be unfriendly, I was simply asking. I have already replaced the Resource file and packaged my cc. I've scanned with Delphy's and it's only pulling up issues in the Library and DCCache. The screenshots you see are from days ago and aren't accurate any longer.

 EDIT: Removed all CC and the game crashes when I go to Nraas->Mastercontroller. Mods are all updated to 1.55. Some CC seems missing, and when I pull out Mods, some of the CC is still missing. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling all CC, the ultimate fix, replacing the resource file, etc.

Hello again,

If you want to, post a new screenshot of your ".package"-files. This time, choose a "view" in which you can see the "date of modification" of each file (I don't know what this is called in English, but I hope you know what I mean).

I will also try to do some research on this, as we already had a few other users with the same problem.

Then I'll see what I can do; but this will involve some work, anyway.

Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing Empty Re: Island Paradise - Working, but most CC is missing

Try renaming "Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3" (To whatever you'd like), then test your game and see if the crashing has stopped. If it has, you can place your saves back in. However, I'd recommend to redownload all of your cc and mods, just to make sure they're all up-to-date, and test the game as you add them in. Probably every ten or so. Once you've gotten all of that finished up, if the game is working fine at this point, please don't combine your packages. You do seem to know what you're doing with it, but it's still easier to test everything when they aren't combined as you have now. Smile

 I have already tried this but will try it again. As far as redownloading all my cc and mods, and adding unpackaged files back into the game in small groups, please refer to my previous posts, as I've already done that.

 Nope. I think I've got the game working for right now after doing a few things, but a lot of CC still seems to be missing.
