Launcher

Please see the link above. After following those instructions, my game worked for a little while, but now it's back to telling me the "Launcher isn't working. Windows is searching for error." I'm not sure what else to do.

Hello,

Many people, who have the latest base game update installed (me including) have reported all sorts of problems with their launchers.

What I can offer to you is the way I start the game: namely by double-clicking on the TS3W.exe (located in C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin). This way you can bypass the launcher and start the game "directly".

The disadvantage, of course, is that you can't (un-)install ".sims3pack" files the "usual" way; you would have to use a program like CCMagic to do things like that, but we'll get to that later - if you're interested in that.

So does anything happen when you double-click on the TS3W.exe ? Or just nothing ?

Now this is getting mysterious; if you say you could start your game up until a while ago, and now you can't - then that's strange. Can you right-click on the TS3W.exe and choose "run as Administrator" ?

Also, try disabling your anti-virus software too (for now).

The screen went black like it was going to start, but then it stopped. I brought the base game from Origin. It seems running as administrator worked! I only have a problem installing Supernatural from Origin now. It says I need to update via the Sims 3 Launcher.

I didn't know you have this "Origin" thing installed. In that case, you should (normally) have your game files in the location C:\Program files(x86)\Origin games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. That's where the two files inside the #crack folder of the "Ultimate fix" belong to ! (TS3W.exe + TSLHost.dll).

So download and apply the "manual" patch from here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1870-can-t-update-the-sims-3-to-v155-fix-manual-patch

Now download and install the other expansions you want to have.

And then download the "Ultimate fix" from here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems

Remember: you only need the two files from the #crack folder in the fix, copy them to the location I just mentioned. Of course, select "replace existing files" when you are prompted.

I have a problem with the patch. It tells me the install wizard will come up to help then I get an error saying "The install version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate."

Hello,

Please follow the following steps (even if you have done all that):
(1) Drag and drop the contents of #crack folder of the latest Ultimate Fix to C:\Program Files\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Click "Replace" when pop-up asking you to replace the existing files appears.
(2) Download the manual patch, which can be found here.
(3) Do step 1 again.

I downloaded the patch, but I still get the message "The install version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate."

it's not working for me either. In my case is a Mac version. I keep clicking on the laucher icon but it doesn't even open!
Maybe it's because my base game (+ expansions to Showtime) are from a different source? I didn't know G4TW before.
I've tried following some instructions I've seen here to change the expansion folder into a .dmg image file in order to make the installation work, but nothing yet. I really don't know what to do.

Please launch the launcher and hover over the base game icon at the bottom of the game. Give me the number in the pop-up sign when your cursor is on the icon.

I cant launch the launcher. I decided to just stop using Origin and download the Sims 3 from Games4theworld. I have another problem now. I'm supposed mount both the StartDisk iso and Disk1 iso, but Daemon tools lite is only letting me do 1 at a time and the installation stops and ask to input either disk. Help?

Hello,

Yes, the installation pauses in the middle and you are asked to put in another disk. Eject the virtual disk StartDisk.iso and create another image with Disk1.iso. And click "Browse" in the installation panel, and select the disk you just mounted (which should be the one in "Computer").

Thanks. I finished the installation, but the launcher still isn't working. Will that be fixed once I install the other EPs and ultimate fix?

Hello,

The Ultimate Fix requires you to install other expansions, so I suggest you download at least one of the expansions mentioned below:
Island Paradise, University Life, 70s, 80s, & 90s Stuff, Seasons, Supernatural, Diesel Stuff, Katy Perry Sweet Treats, Showtime, Master Suite Stuff, Pets, Town Life Stuff, Generations

Before installing any expansions, please make sure you have applied the manual patch first. After installing expansions, you can apply the Ultimate Fix.
