Do I need to patch? [SOLVED]

I'm installing Outdoor Stuff pack and in the instructions it tells me I need to run TS3_1.19.44.010001_Update. When I do I get an error message reading that it is an earlier version and I'll have to uninstall first.
I've currently got 4 expansions and v1.55. Do I have to patch? If so how do I go about uninstalling?

Also I've already changed the value in the registry editor, will this need changing back?

Everytime you install an additional expansion, it's recommended that you do the steps from 2 to 4 from here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
Please ignore the patch "1.19"; these instructions are obsolete now.
Always use the current patch 1.55 (see the link that I posted).

Just to check, when you use the manual patch do you simply run the application?
