Unable to finish loading! [SOLVED] Empty Unable to finish loading! [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Fri 25 Oct 2013, 05:09

I have downloaded all of the sims 3 base and all its expansion from game4theworld. I installed the base game then apply the manual 1.63 patch then install all the other expansions. After that, I apply the latest "ultimate fix" and start the game. However, the game loads into the menu and I could choose which town I wish to start with. But after I choose a town and start the game, it never finishes loading.

What I have already tried from what I have been researching thus far are...

1. repatch the sims with the manual patch then apply the ultimate fix again - didn't work
2. I have installed fresh copies. So there is no mod or custom content - so I didn't bother deleting the cache; instead, i just did the next step below which is...
2. rename the sims folder in C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 - didn't work
3. Did the DEP thing - didn't work
4. Disconnect from the internet before loading the game - didn't work

I ran out of ideas here...

I read from somewhere that if my regional code is 17 then it's a digital copy which "might need origin to run." I don't know if that is the problem.

Anyways, I hope everyone in this community could help me on this!

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Can you try re-applying the manual patch first, and then again the Ultimate fix ?

How long have you waited for it to finish loading?  I've had a similar issue to this in the past, even on an SSD.  I went out for a smoke and left it loading and when I came back I was in the game.

Hello!

I'm sorry you're having such difficulties.  I do not believe it's a regional code issue, however.  From what I've read about those, they tend to give you an issue from the get-go or they give you a popup type error during the setup/installation of the game/s.

Similar to this:  Unable to finish loading! [SOLVED] WrongRegionCode

How long have you left your game "loading"?  This seems almost like a pointless question, however I had a similar issue once before.  I have all of the expansions on my computer (it's a laptop) and my first time loading the game with no mods or CC, it was extremely slow.  It was loading the neighborhood and it sat at the very end of the load bar for over ten minutes.  Mind you, that was the first time loading the entire game!  After it finally loaded, next time I booted up the game, it wasn't nearly as slow.

Moving on,  my suggestion to you are these few things:

1)  Attempt to load the game in 'windowed' mode, please.  There is a way to force your game to load in windowed mode, by editing a file in Your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/options.ini.  <-- Open that file up in Notepad.
For steps on what to edit, please click here
2)  Like IntoTheBlackAbysmalFuture said, please give it time if you have not already!  Ignore this option, however, if you've waited much longer than at least an hour!
3)  Please go here and re-download the Ultimate Fix.  There was an issue a few days ago where an old version of the Fix was accidentally being released!  I got the old Fix and was attempting to use it but had crashing to desktop issues on the neighborhood loading screen.  Once you've re-downloaded the Fix, please reapply it and see if this helps.
4)  You did not mention whether or not you are running the games with any mods or custom content.  If you are, please drag and drop your Downloads folder (where your custom content is located) to your desktop to test your game.  Sometimes a lot of Custom Content (CC) and/or mods can slow your game down loads - that, and cause errors.

Please let us know if this problem persists.  These are only a few suggestions, so if they work awesome!  If not, don't worry!  We'll find a way to get your game running.  Let us know if there is any progress! Good luck!

Thank you guys. Will report in as soon as I have tried all your suggestions.

Thank you again!

//EDIT

OMG the windowed mode works for me!! ok I understand what went wrong now. So I needed to let it load while I am in front of the sims screen. What I usually do is let the game load then alt-tab and do something else expecting that it would finish loading when I alt-tab back. Guess that is not the case! you need to wait in the game in the loading screen untill the game finishes it loading.

OMG thank god for this community!

Love you guys,

Keep doing what you do!!

You're very welcome!  Smile  Glad the windowed option worked for ya'!  Wink  I've always had the most luck with that option - plus, in my case at least, it makes my game run just a bit faster.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to let us know!

Just a small remainder, Custom Content installed cannot be found in the folder Downloads, which is just a folder for storing the sims3packs. Rather, you should remove the content of the folder DCCache, InstalledWorlds, SavedSims and remove the folder Mods to delete all your Custom Content. But I am glad to hear your problem is solved Smile. Topic closed.
