I traveled to Egypt and my sim COMPLETELY disappeared. :(

I just got home and tried to re-open my game and my sim still isn't anywhere to be found. When I click on the save file on the menu screen, instead of having my sim standing there, it's blank with a little outline of a house. 

How do I get my sim back?  I'm worried she's gone, I've put a lot of work into this save.

The first thing: when you see that something 'strange' happens in your game, NEVER save your game. So just quit without saving, even if you lose some progress.


Now..go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saves. Look for a folder called...

(Name of your savegame).sims3 and MOVE that folder out somewhere.

Then look for the folder (Name of your savegame).sims3.backup. You remove the ".backup" ending so that this folder looks like the one you just moved out.


Re-start the game and see if your old save is playable. Good luck !

I'm on the edit town menu by the way, I can't really do anything else. I don't have the "return to game" button, but in place of that I have "return to game setup" button. I clicked "home" in the top left corner and that took me back home but only in the edit town mode, and I can't even find my sims house. What the heck?

Do you know how to install mods ?

Please download and install the LATEST versions of NRAAS_MasterController and NRAAS_Traveller.

Click on any computer then (your sim doesn't have to "go" to it, since you can't even see her. But just click on the computer). Then go to NRAAS -> Master Controller -> Town -> Reset everything. And then wait.

Now choose the option "Save as..." and choose a new name for your savegame - let the game save. Exit the game completely then.

Re-start the game and load again the save. Try travelling home now. If THAT doesn't work either, I'm clueless.   You might even have to start a new save.

Alternatively, you can click in "view town" on the town hall logo (I assume there is a town hall in Egypt too ?). You'll find the same NRAAS options too.


And please, I just edited your picture in your opening post because your savegame has a swearword in it. Don't do that again.

That should be self-explanatory. So after reading that guide, please download and install the mods I mentioned before. And then proceed as I explained in my previous post.

And the NRAAS seems to be messing with my game a bit now. Whenever I am doing a new interaction with a sim I'm talking to, my sim will disappear and re-appear a couple of feet away. I would like to uninstall them. Is there a certain way to do this? Do I just delete the "Mods" folder from My Documents -> Electronic Arts?

I need to know the proper way to cleanly uninstall or rid of these mods, I don't want my game to be glitch-y any longer (I did not have this glitch before the mods).
