Missing game Save

Hello guys cheers

So, I've been having issues with saving my game. Finally, after being advised to download a "save cleaner" everything seemed to be running smoothly. I started saving my game regularly about every 10 minutes of gameplay. But this time, the game didn't let me save or even "save as..." like it had before. The game crashed and when I went to open it again the family is missing from the main menu??????????????? Suspect

I have a backup file on my computer but I have no idea how to load it in to my main menu. Also, when I go in to C:\Users\Jessica\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves My family save is there. There are two one folder labeled Taylor.sims3.backup and one labeled Taylor.sims3.bad affraid

I have no idea what any of this means and I am curious as to why the family save folder is still under saves and it won't load to my main menu so I can play. I am assuming it is corrupted somehow. Please Help me!!!! I have put so much work in to this damn family and it's always crashing. I seriously need a new computer.

Hiya!

The .bad indicates something has gone wrong with the save. Have you tried deleting the file named Taylor.sims3.bad and removing the .backup extension from the other file? I think that should work. I'm not 100% sure, so A) back up the files and B) don't empty your recycle bin / trash can if you do delete the file. Hope it works! Good luck.

Hello,

The previous poster (Anonymousething) is correct, you can delete the folder with the .bad ending. As for the folder with the .backup, please rename that one and remove the .backup-ending, so that it looks like this: (Name of the savegame).sims3

Generally, I recommend you regularly backup the folder Saves (My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3), to a safe location, depending on how often you play The Sims 3.

Just to add to what Carlos suggested, with the backing up of the folder. I have found that it's a good idea to have at least two separate saves for each family I play, like one of my towns has the saves "Salinas1" and "Salinas2". This makes it so that you don't lose quite as much if anything happens to a save. I also recommend alternating between each save, if you do use this method.
