Mass Effect 1 in game issue. [SOLVED]

I've got the game installed and running fine, however during the mission on Feros where you sabotage the Geth ship by using the pressure switches, after solving the little addition puzzle the cut scene freezes up and my computer becomes unusable.

I've tried reducing resolution, texture detail, etc but nothing changes it. I've also run it in windowed mode to see if i could get the desktop to work but the mouse gets stuck in the window. It prevents me from using the task manager to close the game so I have no choice but to do a hard shut down. I've now tried it three times, each time freezing. Anyone have a fix for this?

I've tried everything on common solutions page, including updating to 1.02, running as administrator. The only thing that could be different is I alt tabbed out a few times. Does this mean I have to begin an entirely new career? I'd really rather not do it to get past one cutscene.

Try to update your graphics card drivers first.
After that backup your savegames and uninstall the game. Now, restart your PC and then reinstall the game.
Put back your savegame(s) and see if it makes any difference.

Ps. Have you tried just watching the cutscene?

I've thought about looking at the cutscene or changing the cutscenes file name to see if I can continue if its skipped. I just cant find where the cutscenes are saved.

I don't get it, why don't you just watch it...?

I dont watch it because I can't find it on my computer. I'm not sure where the cut scene library is saved in the installation, or what the particular cutscenes filename is.

No, I mean in-game. Why don't you watch it in-game? Or does it crash during the watching?

it crashes during the watching. It gets a few seconds in then the screen freezes, like it hangs on the cutscene. The audio keeps playing but no matter how long I leave it the cutscene wont continue/end. The only thing I can do is restart my computer because the game doesn't crash out and I cant get out of it back to windows.

Then sorry, at this point I'm clueless. You could try looking for either a fixed .exe (Also known as fixed NoCD crack) and/or search Google to see if you can locate the cut scenes and delete / replace them.

I'm sorry, really. I'll keep this topic opened for anyone with a solution.

I found a save that was similar to mine (Class/Morality/Love Interest) that right past this mission storywise, so I'm using that one. I've yet to encounter a problem with any of the cutscenes in the next mission, so I think maybe it was a problem with the cutscene itself. thanks for the help, it was a strange error.
