Sims 3 Generations I/O error

My game was always black when trying to start it, and i tried a shitload of fixes, but i uninstalled all my sims to reinstall it. With just the base game, the game works. Following the thread on how to install it correctly, I try installing generations next. But it gives an I/O error on the Es folder, on some of the files. I can ignore most of them, but then a file comes and the only options are to retry and cancel. I went in the generations folder in C: and everything is gone but the Es folder. I cannot go in or delete the folder or it gives the I/O error. What the hell do i do? Please help.

what are you running on vista 7 xp?

I am running windows 7. I also forgot to add the game at one point was working perfectly, and that my pc can DEFINITELY run the game.

Edit: I temporarily fixed the problem by renaming the Es folder to Broken and then installing the game. Everything seems to be going fine, but i dont like to have a random corrupted file on my hard drive so please help if you still can.

Use the disk Check Utility

Right click on your local hardisk in My Computer > C Drive
select properties, then click the tools tab, the select the top option
