Blank menu/ insert disk problems. [SOLVED]

So the game was working absolutely fine until I did the 1.67 update (I used the sims 3 update not the games4theworld one). After that it asked me to insert an island paradise disk. I used the ultimate fix and nothing changed so I uninstalled island paradise as that was the most recent one I'd bought. Once I'd uninstalled that the game would open but the menu would look like this:
 
And I couldn't select anything.

After reading a few other threads on here with similar issues, these are the things I've done-
- Followed the ultimate fix tutorial and replaced the two files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
- Used the manual patch for 1.67
- Reset the game to factory settings (without reinstalling).

I'm not sure whether it's worth just uninstalling and reinstalling but currently I'm totally muddled up in all this so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

One clarification. Did you make sure to re-download the Ultimate Fix? This problem is usually caused by outdated cracks. So, please download it again and apply it in the correct folder, to see if the problem persists.

Redownloaded the ultimate fix and applied it again but it hasn't changed anything. Do I put the files from the folder 'all expansions after and including generations' into the sims 3 game bin or the files from the '# Crack' folder?

You only need to use the #Crack folder inside the Ultimate Fix. If the game is updated to 1.67, the rest of folders can be ignored. Just put the .dll and .exe from the #Crack to The Sims 3\Game\Bin.
