Help! Town map is white :(

Hey guys,

It has been a while since I posted here. I need help regarding this white map! I think it must be because of Windows 8.1? Or is it the draw distance setting? This is so annoying! It happens in any map I try. This screenshot for example is Bridgeport:

If it is zoomed in there isn't any prob. It worked fine. Also, when I first installed the base game there was no problem like this. But after adding expansions and updating the game this problem occurred. Should I download the manual patch in this forum? Or apply the ultimate fix? What should I do? Sad

Hi there!

By that, do you mean you didn't apply the Manual Patch and Ultimate Fix after installing the EPs downloaded from here? If you didn't (and you indeed got the EPs from here), yes, you should definitely download and apply both of them.

But this problem seems more like an issue with your graphics card. Have you tried lowering the graphics options in the game?
Also, please make sure that your graphics card's drivers are updated. Which GPU do you have? And which expansion packs do you have installed?

Yes I think it's my gpu. When I first updated the game it said the graphics card is not recognised. I am using intel HD Graphics. My CPU is Intel Celeron N2940 quad core. I am using a laptop. I think I should either update the gpu drivers or get another laptop with a discrete gpu.

Hi again,

Yes, that GPU is certainly low to play TS3. I suggest that you lower all of the graphics options in the game, and think about maybe uninstalling expansion packs until you find that your laptop is able to run the game.
Updating the drivers isn't a bad idea either.

Hello rajaerry,

Just to add, as you install more expansions, so will the 'load' on your computer increase too. You might also want to consider un-installing the expansion(s).

These Intel HD chips are not made for gaming purposes; you might be able to play for a while, but then, the Intel HD chip might just 'give up' its service - and then you're screwed, because of the hardware damage.

The next thing is this: laptops with acceptable graphics cards tend to be very expensive, so you might want to go for a decent desktop straight away (those desktops are usually a lot cheaper than the better laptops).

Hi~
So I used to meet with that map problem too, and the graphics card I'm using is Intel(R) HD Graphics Family. I'm pretty certain that isn't suitable for gaming... I met with a message whenever I started the game, something about the graphics card.

This only happened after I downloaded Sims Pets expansion pack. Also, when I zoomed in it was fine, exactly the same. But after I applied the 'Ultimate Fix', I could play the game normally with the map perfectly clear.

I used to also meet with a problem with the Seasons expansion pack, it ruined the whole game but like I mentioned before, 'Ultimate Fix' really cured everything.
So... are you sure you tried the 'Ultimate Fix' already? If not I really suggest you try it. Haters gonna hate
