"Unable to update INI-file". [SOLVED]
I have downloaded the Sims 4 torrent recently and unpacked everything into a folder. However, when I try to install it I run into an error.
I've attached a screenshot of it, but since it's in german, here's a rough translation:
"Updating the INI-File wasn't possible: C\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\bin\res\ThumbnailConfig.ini, verify if you have access to that file and that it exists."
I haven't found any similiar posts here so I figured I might as well ask since I'm all out of ideas on how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Welcome to the Games4theworld Forum!
Try this, please: open the .rar file you downloaded using only WinRAR, which can be downloaded from www.games4theworld.org . (If you use any other software than WinRAR, like WinZip or 7-Zip, the files will usually get messed up!)
After opening the .rar file using WinRAR, select all the files in it and drag & drop them to an empty folder on your Desktop. When the extraction has finished, close the .rar file and open the folder on your Desktop.
Now start by reading the included "# Installation Guide.txt", and you should be able to get the game to work yourself.
Good luck!

Re: "Unable to update INI-file". [SOLVED]
I've done exactly that: unpacked to a folder on my desktop with winRAR, followed the installation guide (which just said to use the setup.exe) and arrived at the same error.
It installs normally for a bit, then somewhere around the middle it encounters the error I mentioned above. I tried starting the setup as admin, disabling my Antivirus, and changing the installation directory but the installation still failed for the exact same reason.
(Thank you for the welcome and for the support, though!)

Hi there,
Oh, that's odd. Do you mind posting a screenshot of the extracted files?

Hello Voidrose,
Can you navigate to the location C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts and see if there is the folder "The Sims 4" ? If yes, can you delete the folder "The Sims 4" then ?
After that, re-try the installation. Good luck for now !
P.S. if it doesn't work, read up on the "TeamViewer" information there:
http://www.games4theworld.org/contact.html
Then join the forum's chatbox (at the top of the forum's main page) when you see me online there. I'll then try and assist you with TeamViewer on that.

There was indeed a Sims 4 folder. How it got there, I have no clue. I deleted it and it installed properly this time, thank you very much for the support and for the download!

No problem, and thank you for your feedback ! Feel free to open a new thread whenever you have anything else to ask or chat about. Until then: have fun with the game ! Problem solved, topic closed.
