Sim not keeping friends

First I want to say a big thank you to the G4TW team who put the DL together and the Ultimate fix! My game runs perfectly. I feel like this issue is more on EAs end & its not a download/torrent related thing, I was just hoping someone had found a walk around to get around this issue etc.
So what's happening is I'll take my sim out to say, the gym, he'll make 3-4 friends and have about 1/4 relationship status with them, then when he goes home, usually while he's sleeping over night, those sims will disappear from the 'relationship' panel, never to be seen again. So far he's lost about 5-6 friends, this could be problematic trying to get him a gf etc.
I've done a bit of research and found a number of posts on the EA official forums about this problem, dating all the way back until September 2014.
Has anyone else had this issue? And what did you do about it and temporary solution?

Hello again,
If I recall correctly, another Helper on here mentioned back then, that this is something "deliberate" by EA/Maxis. The aim of this is to delete random (NPC) sims from the neighborhood, to improve game performance.
Personally, I find it sad that EA resort to this type of stuff (along with things like the "Non-open world"), just to make the game playable on crappy computers, but OK, so be it.
P.S. Note that Sephy is currently not active (anymore) on here, so I can't ask her for more details on this.

You may be interested in something like this mod:

It will remove the "Max Population" and the "Genealogy Pruning" that deletes Sims from the game to improve performance. It's written for version 1.3.18.1010, but according to the comments on the page it works perfectly fine with the latest version.
You could try it out and let us know how it goes. Good luck!
