Can we have new package destination please? [SOLVED]
Hello, I have decided i need to uninstall sims 4, from my computer. I simply do not have the hard drive to cope with it and the forth coming expansion. Please, please can you make a new package installer so those of us with no choice but to use a secondary drive for installation, are able to install to it? I imagine over time there must be quite a few of us.
For me at least there is no alternative, because i am already down to 20gb left on my c:drive.
Hopefully this can happen, because after all surely its just a package container, the install shield? i remember making a mod for some game a long time ago and i need to use the install shield software.
many thanks in advance.

Hello again,
Thanks for the suggestion ! We will think about the idea (I moved this topic to the "Suggestion Box" though).
However, a lot of it will depend on how many people "request" that. So far, not too many people have; and the (vast ?) majority of people seem content with the stuff being installed on the C: drive. Also, we will need to see how future expansions and DLC are going to be implemented. If future expansions are simply files that need to be inserted into the base game location (like the Holiday Pack or the Outdoor Retreat), then a "fixed" Sims 4 might indeed be a good idea, at some point.
If, however, future expansions are also installers like the base game of TS4 we would need to make "modified installers" for each new pack that comes out. It would be certainly do-able, but a bit more work too.
Again, we will need to see. But in any case, if we DO decide to make this, then you shouldn't necessarily expect this to be released anytime soon, sorry.

Re: Can we have new package destination please? [SOLVED]
thanks Carlos and the team. I am having good fun with the sims 3 at the moment. I think sims 4 really desperately needs more content than what it currently has.
If i just moved the whole sims 4 straight to the D:\ that could cause some really bad problems when it comes to applying the ultimate fix, and its why I have had to think long and hard about removing it. it is a shame, because i think sims 4 is the kind of game that grows on you.
Hopefully you can do this
again thanks to everyone on the team

Hello there,
You can install The Sims 4 on your C:\ drive and then move the files to another drive and change some Registry keys. Would that be an option? (We can assist with that, if you agree to do that option)
It's doable, because I only had about 4GB left on my C:\ (SSD) drive.

Hello again,
As I hinted in my initial reply: nobody can tell as of now, how future DLCs or expansions are going to be implemented. We all will have to see what the future holds in this respect.
//EDIT
That means: if we are lucky, future DLC/expansions are just a bunch of files that simply need to be inserted into the base game folder, similar to the Outdoor Retreat or the Holiday Pack. And if we are unlucky, we will again need to make a custom installer.

Re: Can we have new package destination please? [SOLVED]
Right now, I have decided to repartition the hard drive. which means my main C drive is a whole lot large then it was. I have also created a 150gb just for backup / data storage.
Now I can have everything installed on my C :\ drive not a problem any more.

That's good news!
It's always a good idea to have a bigger C:\ drive, because you never know when you need it for important stuff. (Sometimes the Temp folder can take up a lot of space too, for example)
Can we consider this "solved"?

Yep, as I said in a number of other posts already: if you pay attention in advance (i.e. make sure your C: drive is big enough), then you don't have to mess around with things like that later on. Many people have read or heard that "SSD drives are much better than HDDs...", but then they realize that even tiny SSDs usually cost a fortune; whereupon they end up buying said tiny ones, because they either don't want to or can't spend more.
People really need to change their attitude/awareness, with regards of this. Nowadays, if you want to play games too, you won't get far with a 100GB (main) drive.
