Creating Torrent and sharing magnets here Empty Creating Torrent and sharing magnets here

Post by Sim Architect Sat 18 Jul 2015, 22:41

Hi there! I am trying to share a magnet link I just created using uTorrent for my Full Sims 3 store, but I just can't. I tried mag, magnet and the regular link tags, without success.

Please let me know how I can do it, since I can't upload my stuff to PirateBay or KickAss.

Below is the link, in case you'd like it (I just got my torrent uploaded to KickAss, yay!):

The Sims 3 - Full Store by Sim Architect

Thanks!

You should also have a .torrent file saved when you created the torrent, right?
That .torrent file should be uploaded to TPB/KAT, NOT the original file.

Magnet links can be opened using a browser, they'll then automatically open in your Bittorrent client.
A .torrent file already contains all the information about where the file can be "found", and therefore starts up immediately. A magnet link links to where to find the original .torrent file, so it'll take slightly longer, because the actual .torrent file has to be "found"/downloaded from different sources first.
So even with only the magnet link, you can still get torrents. (Hence TPB decided to stop offering .torrent files, and offer magnet links instead - .torrent files take a few KB in size, magnet links are just... links)

Thanks for this, Sim Architect. Sadly, it cannot fit my free seedbox since it only has 5 GB space (4.7 GB actually). Will seed to eternity. Cheers.  Good job!

Thanks! I tried, but kickass won't give me uploader rights (they just did, yay!) and tpb won't send me email confirmation for some reason... Any ideas? Would you upload the torrent and the magnet to your page eventually? I will also need people helping me seed, since my PC won't stay on 24h/day...

I am seeding at 30 Mbps right now, I hope some people catch and help me sharing the file, so I can use less of my bandwidth in the future. Thanks!

Why won't they give you upload rights? Is the actual file in .RAR format? If so, that's the reason.
Nevermind, I read your other post just now.

Did they remove my torrent? No way!!! Why???

Isn't that supposed to be a f*cking pirate site??? They gave me no option to complain, or am I not seeing something I should? I gave credit to you and rachel's toolbox!

I also got 11 negatives and only 5 positives (I guess maybe because I was the only seeder? and not on line all the time?)!

I doubt that they are the copyright holders of the files... IAmSoHappyEmergahwd

Anyway, yes, KAT has become a big pile of Censored , don't bother uploading there.
I'm not sure why you're not receiving the TPB activation mail though, maybe registrations are closed?

Maybe?? I had an old account but I don't wanna use it, since I used my legal name initials plus my entire surname (stupid me Facepalm Facepalm Facepalm ).

I will try again, we'll see...

Meanwhile, would you like to host the magnet (and maybe also the torrent) at your page? That way we don't need torrent search engines showing it, I will just link to your page and be good with it, plus all the traffic will go to it and not to those stupid sites anyway :p

Please, let me know if you need/want the torrent and/or the magnet, so I can send it to you some(how?). I only used their service so people would be able to get the torrent somehow, as I can't link it on my Youtube (it won't take magnet links and I don't want to host torrents using my Mega or a similar account). Even YouTube is being more tolerant on piracy than some pirate sites like KAT, it makes no sense...

I've been seeding the entire day and it seems we have about 14 to 20 seeds running around, I wish everybody is getting their copy if they want to without any issues!

Meanwhile, let's have some caution tea!

*** NEW Info ***

I just found this page (one of the kickass old users replied to my question about my torrent being taken down), and it seems it's not a manual takedown, but they just do it to comply with US Government requests, so they don't get their site blocked or else...

https://kat.cr/faq/show/what-should-i-do-if-my-torrent-got-deleted-because-of-copyright-dmca/

I also found there are a few ways to work around it and make the link work, so I will see what I can do and let you all know!

If you mean the actual contents of that store torrent, I wrote a (brief) post here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t20677-the-sims-3-full-store-sim-architect-torrent#140266

Installing the .sims3pack files should be clear, as well as most of the .package files. The only thing that may be tricky is dealing with the .package files that contain LOTS, namely those files inside the subfolder named "Sims 3 Buildings", in the torrent: you need to put those files inside My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Library. And not inside the Mods\Packages-location.

Very Happy   We've got a Carloz.

I also found there are a few ways to work around it and make the link work, so I will see what I can do and let you all know!
Been there, done that.
I've almost finished downloading it. Did you include instructions?
Sorry, I did NOT!!! Facepalm Facepalm Facepalm

Thanks, Carlos! Can I "update" a torrent or should I start a new one from scratch? It was really dumb of me to not add any kind of instruction or link. Glad we have your guide!

All Hail Carlos!

Hence I said I'd download it first. Razz
If we want to add it to the Games4theworld list, it'd be nice to have some kind of instructions?

No, it's not possible to update an existing torrent, it'd become a completely new torrent.
Anyway, it's not "too late", since not many people have downloaded it. I was actually working on a "complete Store" torrent, but stalled it, because I figured I was probably missing a lot of stuff. I wanted to wait for the Download Server to finish, so I knew what was missing.

But who cares, we can just upload Rachel's, if we have instructions.

Time to get some sleep now. Razz

I wish you had a great night of sleep! I will work on a video tutorial along next week, then I can release a new torrent if you'd like, which we can distribute around Smile

Please let me know if I should add anything to my "collection".

Hope to meet you later on MC!
