I believe the new game, even though is new, is a shame.

It's still 32 bits, it doesn't add graphic depth or texture quality, it has temporary screens if you want to go far in your neighborhood, it allows only three levels above ground, no contrainfloorelevation and moveobjects codes, no Pools, no basements and many other issues that they say will NEVER be fixed.

In my humble opinion, it would be ok to have a limited base game if they told us they would give us dozens of levels/floors to build later on, pools and everything else we had with Sims 2 and 3...

Also, since it's 2014, they should have made the game 64 bit and with network interactions, like having my sim visit your sim in your game and interact with chat boxes and audio, like many other games. We could even think about something we have on minecraft, where you can build things together and simultaneously.

I would like to have a successful kickstarter campain or anything like that to hire a staff of game developers to make something real nice for adult people like us (or children that want a more complex experience).

What do you think?

The new game s*cks or do you think I don't know what I am talking about and, maybe, you really love The Sims 4 and won't ever consider staying on The Sims 3?

What I do know is that not all people will have a 64 bit machine putting many out of Orions reach. That alone will not be done. Orion wants all who can play to play so scratch that out. As far as a coop building phase that would be very nice but how we have made it possible for us to be able to play by just downloading the software would not be in Orions bucket list as they would lose more than they have gained.

As far as the Sims 3 are concerned I may or may not play The Sims 4 and that all depends on the fact if alot of the things that you can do on The Sims 3 you no longer have to do on the The Sims 4 than I will be on that ship but if it is all the same I shall keep my Sims 3 and play The Sims 4 occasionally as I have everything ever made for the Sims 3.

I understand your wants for the Sims 4 but sadly you have to think as the Company does and what you propose is just not going to happen. This is my personal view as I have worked for Companies that think  in this way. I do not mean to burst your Bubble but that Bubble will not exist with creating Just a 64 bit Program.

Hello,

A 32-bit program can - by default - only use about 2 GB's of RAM, but there are ways to tweak this in order for the program to use more RAM (see the "4 GB patch", for example). So the thing with the 32-bit system isn't that big of a deal, in my opinion. Also note that in order for a program to use more than 2 GB of RAM, more things are needed, actually. Without going too much into detail, you'd also need a 64-bit CPU, a motherboard that allows programs to use more than 2 GB of RAM and of course a 64-bit operating system.

About the thing with sims visiting other sim over the internet...well, online functionalities of all sorts are pretty common in today's gaming world. But whether EA wants to "venture" into that territory remains to be seen. It'll depend on how "profitable" EA will find such a feature (I'm almost sure that EA have at least thought about this possiblity already). And if they really take on that challenge, let's see how well this online mode is going to be implemented. As a sidenote: this will be mainly relevant for those who have a legit copy of the game; if you have a cracked game you'll have to go all the way with setting up cracked servers, making sure they don't connect to "legit servers", and all that stuff...

Next, so let's assume that my sim can "visit" another sim over the internet, but what next ? That alone would be a bit boring. EA would have to come up with some sort of "new" gaming mode, maybe with some challenges or the like, to make this "online simming" more interesting. Whether that's going to happen, I don't know.

And yes, for now, I'll still stick with TS3, since there's a lot of stuff I haven't tried yet. Of course, I'll also be playing TS4, but not as much as TS3. Smile

Will you stay with Sims 3 as your main simulator even after the 4 comes? Empty Re: Will you stay with Sims 3 as your main simulator even after the 4 comes?

Post by Guest Tue 26 Aug 2014, 18:29

There were so many bugs when the sims 3 came out that it drove me nuts. My best friend got it the same day it released. I would play it on her computer, but I kept playing the sims 2. I waited until ambitions came out. By that point they got most of the base game bugs worked out. Mind you I got made when I preordered pets and my whole game went to ****. There were so many issues and I was on the phone with EA and Origin every day. One was helpful the other was rude and accused me of stealing the game. I'm old and did not even know what a torrent was and had honestly bought the games I had at that point.

It was that day I vowed to never give EA my money again... I also found this and a few other sites about that time, and learned what an ISO is. Yay Internets!!

I am debating if I am going to get sims 4 at all, and decided that if I do I will wait at least 6 months. I will pay for a valid base game because I found having a registered base game so very helpful. but after that I will not pay for EPs

Personally i think by adding more features to it will be more problematic. We all know that when Sims 3 got the online feature a lot of ppl experience bugs and game crushes. Also when the Sims on tour came out with the showtime the actually tour was bugy and sims couldn't been send. So not sure if EA is ready to make a game like Minercraft to build all together at the same time xD.

Also EA made it quiet clear that they wanted to give a game with much more expretions and sim moves and feelings. Tho not like it so much that they made cartoonish. That was what i liked on sims 3 that was looking almost like real person.
So we will see , and yes i will still been playing Sims 3 for a long time cuz i need to try EVERYTHING!!

P.S even sims 1 had pools Facepalm .

How much would it cost for us to make our own project? I would really like to create a decent life simulation game, something like Cities XL + Sims + Minecraft together... Something also a bit like second life as well, with all the socialization...

Should we make a campaign for funds? Should we make an open source game? Imagine how cool that would be! Realistic graphics, REAL social interactions and maybe even an economy to support the servers running...

We could have private neighborhoods, and also public ones. I have so many ideas, and I am sure you have even more!

How can we make it real?

If you can get a team of people with actual game developing experience, and who want to do that for free, then yes. Besides, that would require a HELL amount of organization, and teamwork.

You need to know that the vast majority of people on this forum only come here to post one or two questions, and then leave again. Some stay for a bit longer, and come online occasionally. Others may become Helpers or Mods.

But the thing you have in mind sounds - for THIS community and at this point - highly unrealistic. Sorry to say that. Sad  Sure, the idea is nice, but it's just not realistic.

Well, but what if we put money in the equation? Do you think there's a way for us to raise enough money to hire staff and even pay for our own time working on it? I would dedicate myself exclusively to this if I could, I would even move to another place if necessary.

Where is that money going to come from ? Smile  You also need to know, that "donations" on this forum were always very small and meaningless. Sure, we could "raise" money, but not much would come in I'm afraid.

Besides, paying the "staff" is not the spirit of this forum, but OK, assuming that you manage to "hire" staff, you would need to pay them regularly, right ? And ways would need to be found to bring in money. Should "we" sell that game then ? Games4TheWorld as a real company ?

Also, not everybody is capable of "dedicating" himself/herself fully to this place. Almost all of the team members have full-time jobs and/or are enrolled in school. You'd also have to find people who want to "dedicate" themselves fully, which, believe me, isn't going to be that easy.

If you are really serious about that, or any other similar things, feel free to post any substantial suggestions in the "Helpers area". Smile

It's not about the forum, but about the project itself. It's not about having the answers, but we see tons of projects that raise millions of dollars on sites like kickstarter... Maybe we could do something like that? Maybe we could find a large company willing to take the risk? It's just a little seed idea, I have no idea if it's totally crazy or if it's possible... I think it would be nice, though.

Sure, OK, I get you. Smile Again, yes, the basic idea sounds nice. But if it's not about the forum, who did you have in mind originally, when you said "how can we make this" ? Who is this "we" ? And do "we" even want that ?

Again, I do respect your visions and dreams, and who knows, you may even succeed in doing that one day. But again, I don't think this is the right topic for this kind of stuff.

You may make another one though, on here, at any time.

You are right! I should have started another post. Sorry! It was really my mistake, since it's the chit-chat section I thought I could post anything related to the game (even if it's just a little bit related like making another one), but I should have started another topic. Do you think you can split them?

And I posted here because I wanted to know what people here think, if they like the idea, if they think there's a way for us to put something together somehow, I could maybe even find some partners to help me with the marketing of a fund raising campaign directed towards that goal, I don't know... Anything...

Please accept my apologies for not separating this idea into another post. Please let me know if you had a way to fix that or if I can do it by myself, please let me know how to...

No, no. There's no need to apologize. Smile  Just keep this in mind for the future - and you may open such a (new) thread in the "Off-topic" section if you like. The "Off-topic" sub-forum is best suited for that, I guess.

I've loved the Sims series as long as it's been around but so far the massive amount of content that's been standard for multiple generations of Sims games that's been cut from Sims 4 is incredibly alarming.  I'm going to give it a shot but my hopes aren't very high.  It's really a shame because it's easily the game series I've poured the most amount of time into over the course of my life but EA has made it pretty clear over the past few years that they're kind of like a cabal of weird aliens who don't quite understand what humans actually like or are willing to tolerate but MAN do they love Earth dollars

I probably will since there's more to do as of now. I will still play Sims 4 to get used to it, but until some fum EPs come out, Sims 3 will probably stay my main. But when Sims 4 does come, I'm definitely getting it from G4TW since $60 just for the base game is WAY to ridiculous a price.

I agree with you both and, even though I will test the new game when Games4theworld releases it, My BlueRiver World on The Sims 3 is still my priority (I am working on it for more than two years and I won't give up)!

Post by Guest Sat 30 Aug 2014, 01:50

I will stay with the sims 3. Most definitely. I mean let's face it, out of all the sims game, i think that I have invested the most time...and money in this game and I don't think they allowed it enough time to breathe, inbetween all the glitches and releases, before they intend to release the new game. Which is probably the reason why the Sims4 is so lacking in fundamental sims items and "abilities" like pools and so on.
And the price that that they are pushing for what I believe to be an incomplete base game is ridiculous. Its sad that not even Nrass from what i heard is not even going to make Mods for the new sims game. That is another great reason. I mean sure, there are other Mod makers from Mod the Sim and other sites but Nrass is consistent. But he may change his mind...

Will you stay with Sims 3 as your main simulator even after the 4 comes? Empty Re: Will you stay with Sims 3 as your main simulator even after the 4 comes?

I too will still play sims 3. Since, sims 4 is still newly release, there's nothing much to do except for exploring new features.  It seems like a downgrade for me. Uhm, I will probably check out sims 4 when they release at least couple of exciting expansion; so it's enjoyable to play.

Hey guys I had a question regarding the first post, Smile
When it says it's a 32-bit program does that mean if someone has a 64-bit computer, it's not gonna work?
Sorry for the noob question Very Happy

Hi there,

A question is never a "noob" question. A question is a question and you have all rights (and should!) to ask one.

If you're running a 64bit operating system and you run a 32bit program/game, they'll have "*32" next to their process name, in the Task Manager. See the screenshot below:
