Rewriting date in Sims 3
Hello, I would like to ask a question, hopefully you'll understand what i mean
In Sims 3 there is sort of a timeline - right now (because I played for a few days) it shows Week 13, Day 7. Is it possible to re-write it somewhere (of find a mod) to show for example Year 2015 or any other year or realistic date? It would be much helpful considering my family trees It would be also much easier to know when some Sim was born because I write this thing into my family trees too...

Sorry, I myself never heard of a mods that could do this kind of thing. I never paid attention to the week-count though. What happens if you reach week 53 (which would be past 1 year) ? Will the counter reset to week 1, or does it continue with 54, 55, etc. ?
I guess it would be doable to create a mod that counts the weeks and sums up years, but I'm not sure if the general interest in that would be there. Sorry that I couldn't help further here...

Considering counting... It would continue 55, 56 etc.
I don't need to sum it up, I just need to know when someone was born and died.
I found a different way to get more "realistic" date. For example Week 14 -> 14*7 = 98. So I could use it as Sim "year" 98 (or 098 or 0098...) and so on. Although It's a shame there isn't some sort of more realistic date in Sims
Thanks for help, anyway

Interesting, but your math sounds a little bit exotic for me
If you multiply the number of weeks by seven, you will have the number of DAYS...
Maybe you could DIVIDE the number of weeks by 4, then you could have an estimate of months (of course, considering that sim months would have just 28 days, which sounds pretty cool, as you don't have to respect nature's rules anyway, or you can set the seasons lenghts you want, then you can sum up the total of them, and you get yourself a full year)!

I multiply the number of weeks by seven to get days and then I write the number as a year (of birth or death) into my family tree I decided to do that this way because (almost) everything in Sims is counted on days. So if two sims are born 3 days apart I write it as if they were 3 years apart
Also I adjusted the life span to match more the real life -
0 - 2 years (2 sim days) Baby
3 - 5 years (3 sim days) Toddler
6 - 12 years (7 sim days) Child
13 - 17 years (5 sim days) Teen
18 - 35 years (18 sim days) YA
36 - 59 years (24 sim days) Adult
60 -> Elder
And because I have Nraas mods installed, I put a rule that the last chance to get pregnant is 17 days from becoming elder, thus giving birth 3 sim days later - 14 days from becoming elder (at age 42).
I could devide it by 4 and get months but then the Sims would have to live a veeeeery looong time. I would probably kill them much sooner so It's better for them if they live shorter lives

Re: Rewriting date in Sims 3
Nice! I like long lives for my sims (I always set to the maximum, except for the childhood).
But, thinking of what you just said, it makes sense to set the days to match months of a regular life, it even makes sense if you think of seasons and salary!
So, I will do some research and come up with a "standard" for me (Sims 3, since Sims 4 have very short lives )
Thanks for calling our attention to this aspect of the game! I never thought of it!!

You set it to the maximum?! Heh, I would probably kill them ALL after some time (I swear the fire started ITSELF! And I DEFINITELY don't know anything about the walls around the pool ). Even 90-day lifespan is almost too long for my patienceSim Architect wrote:Nice! I like long lives for my sims (I always set to the maximum, except for the childhood).

Anyway, today I firstly used this "day = year" system with the adjusted lifespan in my game and it's absolutely awesome!

So much math ? But OK, if it is important for you, why not ? If it makes you enjoy the game more, then go ahead.
