Town Life Stuff Problems
So I installed Town Life, but when it installs, it's missing the Bin, Background, etc. folders. I don't think it's normal + I'm getting a familiar message from way back when another expansion had a similar issue: the "We've detected modification in your game and this may corrupt your game, etc. if you choose to continue - please uninstall all mods, blah"
Don't have mods, and the game won't launch because of the warning.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the game simply does not extract the folders correctly. My installation folder is practically empty after installing.

Re: Town Life Stuff Problems
Hello,
Did you use winRAR to extract Town Life Stuff?
When I open my TLS folder, initially I don't see a lot of folders, no "background" folder for sure, there are only 4 folders in it, Game, gamedata, support and thumbnails.
The unofficial game modification error should be solved by applying the latest fix.

Re: Town Life Stuff Problems
There are zero folders, and about seven files.
I managed to get the game working, but certain features are bugged - aging, for example, won't let me scroll at all, or let me disable it.
Where's the fix? I saw something about installing the games in a different order, I hope it's not that.

Hello,
The link to the fix is in my signature.
I don't think you have to reinstall everything, not yet anyway, but try uninstalling the bugged TLS and reinstalling it after you've extracted it with Winrar.

Hello,
The fix isn't going to solve this problem I'm afraid.
Couldn't this problem be related to the one you had with WA before? Perhaps something similar happened, unless this is a fresh download.

The one with WA before was fixed by the Admin here with a new patch or file or the likes. Can't remember.

Hello,
According to this topic, the files got mixed up with HELS when you burned them, that's why I suggested this problem might be similar.

Nope, that's not the issue here since I actually redownloaded Town Life yesterday and reinstalled.
NOW I have all the folders and such, but I still get the error

Re: Town Life Stuff Problems
Hello,
That error isn't really an issue. You can continue and play, no problem.
You can try the latest fix, but if you plan on installing the Pets expansion, you may as well wait for that fix.

I can't play, though, because my Sims lifespan metre is screwed up. I don't like aging, and my Sim'll die in <20 days as an adult because of it

No, it can't.
It's greyed out and won't let me adjust it or turn it off, because of this issue.

Hello,
How weird. Your game versions seems to be ok.
I'm clueless.
The only other suggestion I could offer is trying a story progression mod. Or wait for Pets to come out, see if installing it corrects this mistake.

I figured Pets might fix it, but I know I installed it three weeks ago at my sister's house without this error popping up. Not sure why this is happening.

Usually it's a misplaced file from the Ultimate Fix.

Hehe...
Since you wrote this...
... I assumed you also read that you had to apply the Ultimate Fix, since it's one of the steps.Yusifer wrote:Where's the fix? I saw something about installing the games in a different order, I hope it's not that.
Anyhow, please apply this Fix: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems
If you're having problems applying it, you might want to watch this HELP -video.

You said you'd try the Fix, so I assumed you'd already tried it, before she wrote her next post.
Anyhow, try it for now, it might be a bug which will be solved when updating. Let me know the result.
