Project Blue River (just a big world I am building for a long long time...)

Hi there!
You are all welcome to know my Blue River project (the link to its facebook page is below, in my signature). I did the basic terraforming a long time ago (probably a year) and now I am taking this project in my hands again.
It's a huge world that will include a few islands, a large coastal downtown and a "not so fancy" area in the plateau, which is huge too, considering the standards for sim worlds.
Since it's taking that long, I thought about releasing it when ready on a donation basis (pay what you want, whoever wants it makes a voluntary donation of any amount to my PayPal account and get a download link by e-mail).
What do you think of my idea? Would you be willing to give any donation for a large world like this (you can see the picture in my new signature)?
What would you like to see in this world?
I plan on having three flavors available, one without buildings at all (not even the city hall), a second with only the essentials (only a few community buildings like city hall, hospital, a park or two) and another with lots of houses and buildings, but still tons of empty lots for you to build!

It looks good, but I'd sooner consider donating after the fact. Because I like to know for sure it's "worth" it. For me personally not an issue since I know these things, but others with low(er) end pc's might find that they can't play the world.
If it's a good world, sites like MATY and the "paysitesmustbedestroyed" type of sites, will pick it up in no time, since there's no limit on how many people can download it from someone's mediafire or 4shared account. People may even share your own download link so you run the risk of having to remove and reupload your project several times.
I think it'll generate more funds if there's a donation option for those who have downloaded the world. Or put the link through Adfly in stead, if there are enough hits, it'll also earn you a little pocket money.
A last piece of advice is to warn people that those with low and mid end pc's probably can't use this world without getting considerable lag problems eventually. I love the idea of a large world like this, but it'll have a considerable population after a few generations and that causes lag on a mid-low end pc to the point of being unplayable.

Yes, it will have a few "branches" of the rabbit holes, that won't be complete rabbit holes actually...
My goal with this project is to make all buildings from scratch, I am using those rabbit hole doors and rugs from jynx, so the sims will actually go inside of the bulidings.
There will be malls, office buildings, private & public clinics and schools...

Hi, your world looks great but I wouldn't donate for it or any other world or CC. There are lots of people doing better stuff than EA has for free. I think the fact that they do it as a hobby is the reason for the high quality. They take pride in their creations instead of rushing through it to make a sale.

Thanks, but what would be the down side of having some people that were happy with a content that you produced donating a few bucks? I am early retired and my income went quite low (30% of what I used to make before). I am not making or rushing it for money at all, but I believe that, if I can get some "candy cash" out of something I created, it would be very nice and opportune.

Even though I plan on using EA Store content only (for the exception of the mailtrash and the rabbit hole rugs and doors from jynx), I am thinking about making a "contest" for pre built houses, where I define the lot sizes I need and other basic rules like maximum price. That would be a way for letting people have a part of themselves in my project. It would be fun to have a block with houses that were made by different people.
Anyway, my goal here is to make something people will like and use, it is not about the money, but voluntary donations would be nice, of any value. Talking about that, they could have a PayPal donation link on Games 4 the World site and Forum, so we could donate them any value, any time, for their fantastic work.
It is just not fair that they spend all that time helping us not getting anything back, they do a way better job than EA itself with no doubt...

Nice to know about Admin's donate button, I don't remember seeing it, I will look for it when the site is back on after the seasons rush...
If I didn't misunderstand, the ad fly pays you only if you get more than 1000 downloads per day, which isn't something I believe will happen to my content.
I will probably pack a text file asking kindly for donations and leave it up to their consciences... I will also put a donation link near the download one.
We'll see what happens. I don't know how long I am going to take to release it, maybe I should wait the January pack. I still have tons of stuff to put, like trees and a few little lakes on the plateau (that I don't have an idea on how to make, since it's above sea level, I guess I will have to insert a community lot for the small ones). I am thinking about changing the texture of the avenue, even though it won't work with each side one way, it could look a bit more like that without that yellow line dividing sides.
The airport is going to be a huge job also, I hope to make it cool somehow, even though there won't be planes in it...

Thank you very much! It will be available next year. I still don't know exactly when, but I want to make it compatible with all expansions, including seasons, of course!
I finally downloaded the last CAW from thesims3.com and I will install it soon, to put objects into the world like trees and other things. I will release my world with three flavors: empty, with community lots only, and "full" with lots of homes, but still many empty lots for you to build!
It will have more of modern architecture, but it will have a few houses with different styles, maybe even a little castle...

After a looong time "away" (due some sickness that's under control now) I am coming back and working again on my Blue River project.

I have been working really hard on the project for the past few days, but I still have lots of things to do to make it minimally "presentable".
It seems that the game has limitations on the amount of objects it can support in a world (or in an area of it), so I will need to clean up some things, so it stops disappearing with my objects and effects!!!

I was doing some 'maintenance' when I re-discovered the thread. I decided to make it a "Sticky", since (I guess ?) it's still an ongoing project, and because it looks great, so far.
Note: I did not move it to the "Exchange"-section on here yet, because the project is not finished. When time comes, feel free to open a new thread there Sven.

Yes, it's still ongoing, I need to install the game on my new computer and go back to building.
I have been playing a bit with Cities Skylines lately, I stopped recording since I felt that would be out of my YouTube channel scope (and people don't seem to like much when I post too much of non Sims content on it).
I want to finish that crazy castle, then I can move on to other buildings. My goal is to have real buidings for everything, instead of rabbit holes, so I know I have a ton of work ahead but, hopefully, I will be able to make something out of it until the end of 2015, or I will just release it as a "demi empty" world...

As promised, on first hand, here is an Alpha version of my huge World Blue River (Sims 3).

New versions coming soon (hopefully)! I need to run the Edit in Game to add the lots I already built (I have some already, most of them residential).
I wasted too long building a huge castle, which is still unfinished. There's also a large hotel half way built, a strip mall...
My goal was to avoid rabbit holes at all costs, by using the rabbi thole rugs, I did that with the City Building, which has a few stuff together, but still need to build tons of other places yet
The airport should be cool if I get to build it
Suggestions always welcome!
