That will be cool, If there are Mega Links.. Although the games are in part (Part 1, Part 2,....). Sometimes Torrents take all connection compare to Mega especially with the Mega Downloader

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion ! Let's see...

The main problem I would have with download links on MEGA, MediaFire, Dropbox, etc. is that if we post these links in public, people who are not sympathetic to "piracy" are going to report those links, and then the entire account gets taken down. We've seen this in the past, multiple times. In contrast, you cannot really take down torrents.

Another problem particularly with MEGA is that there is a bandwidth limit on free accounts, if I recall correctly it used to be 4GB every 30 minutes. And that is going to be highly unpractical if Games4theworld release bigger games. It may work with small items, but definitely not with big games. In this respect, MediaFire would be better, but some people have reported it is slower than MEGA...overall, it means we would have to pay for a business MEGA account, to get more bandwidth, but then again, maybe it has changed in the meantime.

You can also configure download/upload limits in torrent clients, in the options. Other than that, I'm unsure about the idea. In some cases though, we already use these alternative links, like with the TS4 Ultimate fixes.

//EDIT

Another huge advantage of torrents: you can pause the download at any time, without consequences. Very Happy  For direct downloads, you mostly have to use third-party software (so-called "download managers") to achieve that.

Introducing MEGA Links ? Empty Re: Introducing MEGA Links ?

Hi there,

Indeed, there are many advantages to using Peer-To-Peer (P2P/torrents) over direct downloads, like MEGA. We've summed up a few advantages in our informative "How to download a torrent" guide here: http://games4theworlddownloads.org/Downloads/Guides/How_to_download_a_torrent_Guide.pdf

Direct downloads might be useful for small downloads, but in the end P2P will always remain superior.

On the other hand: P2P downloads are useless when there are no seeders.

True, but we don't get that a lot.

Very true, and that depends on the community itself.
Since there are no centralized servers with P2P, the users either make it or break it. They have the choice (to seed after finishing the download, or to just hit 'n run).

There are no perfect solutions, that is clear. In this case though, I'll take P2P any time over direct downloads. It just takes one single anti-piracy person to report a direct download-link, for the download to be taken down. On the other hand, it just takes one single good-willed person to revive a dead torrent.

The risk of the former is too high for us to "give it a shot", while the latter is surprisingly much more common than one might think. And in the context of G4TW, we have this here anyhow, in case a torrent runs out of seeders these days.
