FREE Indie Games! [On-going announcement]

A blast like from the past is now available for free on the Epic Games Store, namely Super Meat Boy! Released by "Team Meat" back in 2010 under the Developer/Designer Edmund McMillen (who is probably better known on the mainstream for his work on The Binding of Isaac/The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth), it is a "platformer jump n' run" in which you play the role of Super Meat Boy (essentially a red cube   ), who must save his girlfriend Bandage Girl (a pink cube) in various levels. 

Throughout these levels you'll need to evade pits, buzzsaws, lasers and other perils, which will instantly kill Super Meat Boy, and making you start over the entire level everytime you die. The latter is reminiscent of the various oldschool video games of the same or similar genre.

You'll need skills such as (lots of) patience, persistence, judgment, timing, reflexes, speed and a bit of puzzle-solving to help navigate your way through the levels. There may be other details in the game, such as the limited amount of times you can try overcoming an obstacle, before you eventually "need" to tap out if you want to complete the level, and kill yourself in order to start over with a fresh set of obstacles. As seen in the example video below.

Check it out if you like, it's available for free on the Epic Games Store until January 10th 2019. Otherwise you can also buy it from Steam.

I think it's a type of game that will mostly 'appeal' to older game audiences, who have experienced the earlier days of video games, which oftentimes incorporated lots of frustration in their game design (e.g. starting all over if you die & no "checkpoints" like in most modern games). But younger audiences willing to take a challenge or two may also be interested.

P.S. you will need to create an account on Epic Games if you don't have one already, and download the game through their "Epic Games Launcher", in order to get the game.

Damn, I should start posting more here again. 

"Enter the Gungeon" is available for free right now on the Epic Games Store, until June 20th! I don't know if the download includes the extras like the artbook or soundtrack, but I'm sure you can pirate these extra items easily, if anybody is interested.

Epic Games seem to be on a high roll, and not necessarily to everybody's liking in some cases (e.g. the upcoming Borderlands 3 will be an Epic Games-exclusive for the first few months or so). Oh well, let's see for how long they can keep this up. 

Note: Enter the Gungeon is quite difficult to play. You have been warned.
