Hello,
No we don't. What purpose exactly would you have in mind, for using that? We're not generally using any VoIP. For support purposes, we have the Forum, the Facebook-page and also TeamViewer if needed. For playing on the Minecraft-server? Not sure what to think about that, and either way, Skype should do as well (I believe?). But feel free to wait for @Admin's feedback on this.

Hi there,
No, we don't. (I don't even know what it is, but seen Carlos' reply I assume it's something like TeamSpeak )
Is there a specific reason why we should have one?

See e.g. this here:
http://www.pcgamer.com/one-year-after-its-launch-discord-is-the-best-voip-service-available/
Though I'm not that much familiar with the service itself, so I can't say much about it. From what the article says though, that sounds like lots of effort on the end of the company behind the service. I wonder how they're going to monetize the service in the future - apart from what the article mentioned already ("cosmetic features").

Honestly, I would not want to engage in that.
Due to what we do on the Forum (which a lot of people don't like), I would not want to give away my voice on the chance that somebody out there recognizes it, and therefore giving away my identity. I know the chance for that happening is very small, but still. I can imagine using voice chat when playing various games with other team members, but other than that, I'm sorry.
I appreciate the input on "community building", but I don't think this is a good idea for us.

Re: Is there a Discord-channel?
Just came here wondering this as well...
I just started getting into discord myself, so far my only groups are CrackWatch and ZloEMU&Zlogames.
Discord isnt just voice chat, actually me personally, i keep that muted.
its also realtime group text chat.
you can create subchannels in your server offering different topics for people to chat in.
too bad we dont use this. it would be a nice way to bring the members closer together & allow people to get answers faster in time of need.
but i can understand the reasons.

Re: Is there a Discord-channel?
I use Discord for my FC on FFXIV but have not used it beyond that. I believe you can create a server for free but not 100% sure on that part.

For me, personally, I'm on the PC to either be on here, or to relax a little. I imagine that the team would be bombarded with questions 24/7. Even if we did this just for high-need questions, you just know there will always be those that stop using the Forum for their questions, and take the more direct route in stead. It's not just the Forum, we have over 10,000 followers on Facebook as well.
As for bringing the community together, there are other ways. We have the Minecraft server, and the team uses Steam to chat and sometimes play games together.

Coming late to the party, but we also have this:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/chatbox/index.forum?
The chatbox at the top of the Forum index here. I can imagine this may not be as attractive as certain other third-party solutions, but then again, for now we have to deal with what we get from Forumotion. I also know that a lot of people these days are more reluctant with creating separate user accounts for smaller websites, mostly out of convenience (a.k.a. they tend to stick to big sites like Facebook/Twitter/Reddit).
Maybe if we manage to finance our own server for just the Forum one of these days, and if we also manage to export at least most of this Forum here onto our own server (by default, Forumotion and those other free hosts do not give out the databases of Forums, so exporting it elsewhere is technically tricky, but it has been done by some people)...we have more customization options than what Forumotion offers. Until then, we have the aforementioned chatbox, the Minecraft-server and the Facebook Page. Still good enough in my humble opinion.

Re: Is there a Discord-channel?
The chatbox is always empty...and replies are slow on the forum especially for troubleshooting like I'm having right now...you said you have teamviewer but how do we give it to admins or moderators for help when we don't know whose on right now or not?

Hello again @GummyPop and sorry to hear about that,
I used to do lots of these TeamViewer sessions back in the day, until 3 or so years ago, but I essentially stopped doing so due to time constraints and general lack of interest. We used to go on the chatbox, and people would e-mail me their credentials usually. Or the credentials were posted on the chatbox, and then the chat was cleared.
You need to keep in mind that we are volunteers. There is 1 Admin (~Ann~) and 3 Moderators (me, SeoY & Dracos). Not just the staff but also the dedicated volunteer Helpers such as anadius, Tarac, Loonieloose, grieralexander, alwayssimming - to name a few - are literally doing whatever is in the powers of a human being.
But traffic like with highly-anticipated DLC such as Seasons is very heavy. You still have the option to message a Moderator after 24 hours of not receiving a satisfactory reply on the Forum.
I'm sorry again for your plight, and I will try and get back to your topic(s), but as for me...I have made the decision for myself to help more with general supervision in the background and advice. Things that help enable others, to do the things that I have been doing in the past.
P.S. and because you posted this under a thread about "Discord": even if we were to open a Discord channel, I doubt replies would be faster. We have a Facebook Page as well (on which we have de-facto discontinued Support), and if people need help and post, it's normally the case that these posts remained unanswered as well. We traditionally have the situation that users come here to seek help, and then leave again. They normally don't stick around to help out others.

Re: Is there a Discord-channel?
*sighs*i would stick to help however I am more prone to causing other issues for people so I tend to stay away from doing it since all I keep encountering is errors and problems when trying to follow the instructions...The_gh0stm4n wrote:GummyPop wrote:The chatbox is always empty...and replies are slow on the forum especially for troubleshooting like I'm having right now...you said you have teamviewer but how do we give it to admins or moderators for help when we don't know whose on right now or not?

Moved this from "Off-topic" to the Basket, because every time I would try access this thread, a message in Chrome would come up saying "deceptive site ahead", which I have never seen in any other thread here.
Probably because ofthis "Discord"-thing, which is all in the trends at the moment ads that Forumotion are placing under certain threads.
