Age of Empires Installation Help

I followed the instructions and opened setup.exe, but that ran for a few seconds and I got an error saying
"1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime"

What does this mean, why did it pop up, and how do I fix it?

Please try the following (Windows XP):

1. Navigate to the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield\Developer\Redist\Language Independent\i386
2. Double-click on the "Isscrpt.msi" file.
3. Follow the instructions on-screen.
4. Restart your PC.
5. It should work now.

the cd key on the installation guide does not work. any other cd keys i can use

This thread is pretty old, but OK.
Please use this method:

Please open the .rar file you downloaded using only WinRar, which can be downloaded from www.games4theworld.org . (If you use any other software than WinRar, like WinZip or 7-zip, the files will get messed up!)
When
you've opened the file using WinRar, select áll the files in it and
drag & drop them to a folder on your Desktop. When the extraction is
done, close the .rar file and open the folder on your Desktop.
Now,
start by reading the included "# Installation Guide.txt" and you should
be able to get the game to work yourself. Good luck!
