The Sims 1 Complete Collection- No sound
One of the things I looked forward to having again after my Sims 1 CD got a little too scratched up was the nostalgic music, and it's...just not there. I'm trying to reinstall it now, but...I doubt it'll just come back. Any suggestions? I am on Windows 10.
Also, I don't actually NEED the Complete Collection, and it takes up space so...is there a basic one? (Unless this has Pets, I like having pets in The Sims but I don't know if it was in the first one )

We don't have a 'basic' Sims 1 torrent. Why not just go for our complete edition? Sure it takes up a little more space compared to a base game-only download, but then again, in my opinion it's not that much bigger. Unless you are low on filespace on the C: drive there shouldn't be an issue.

OK, Complete Edition is fine. I remember there being other issues with the torrent as well. One problem now is the installation won't even start up Like, not at all. Just a loading circle on my cursor when I click start.exe.
The CD is the original Sims game. No packs. Also no product key...Lost that years ago. tried making an ISO from it, but it doesn't solve the locked up lots (due to the scratches).

When you cannot install the complete Edition, open the folder Setp and click on f.e. Setup_Dutch or Setup_Englishmrmike16 wrote:OK, Complete Edition is fine. A poweriso copy of the disc 1 can be found HERE

Re: The Sims 1 Complete Collection- No sound
OK, I got it to start by restarting my computer. But I already know the sound won't work, since the nice little tune that plays when you first start it...didn't play. And the buttons are supposed to make sounds, as well.

In the option menu in the game itself, have you activated the music ?mrmike16 wrote:OK, I got it to start by restarting my computer. Yup! Tried that last time it was installed.
But before it even installs, it is supposed to be making sounds on the initial Setup screen.

I know that you get music on some installations of complete collections, but I can't remember I heard it on the Sims 1mrmike16 wrote:Yup! Tried that last time it was installed.

Re: The Sims 1 Complete Collection- No sound
It's not really a full thing, but when the Setup pops up (or The Sims menu when it is already installed), it plays a little thing. And it has a sound effect for buttons. Neither of them played.

Re: The Sims 1 Complete Collection- No sound
Well, I just downloaded the complete collection and searched my cupboard for the original CD's and I can assure you that there is absolutely no music during installation.
The first time music occurs is when you actually load the game after installation.
By the way, I also noticed that you can only install the game as an Administrator.

I am an Administrator.
I can actually confirm that, after re-downloading the game, it does play a little tune when you open start.exe to install the game. Hopefully this means that the sound works now!

Maybe you are using an other download then I did (G4tW and the original CD)mrmike16 wrote:I am an Administrator.

As I said earlier, there is music during installation in downloads from Reloaded, Fitgirl, Mr.Dj for the Sims 2,3 and 4.
Anyway, you have your music now, so problem solved.

Re: The Sims 1 Complete Collection- No sound
I downloaded whatever version was listed on this site. Now I installed the game and I couldn't do anything for 45 minutes. Finally started responding...
But there is another issue here. Hovering over options and icons are supposed to make a description pop up. There's a bug here preventing that. It appears for a few milliseconds and disappears. Hovering over a house does show some blurry text. So there are all these new options here that came with the expansions and I have no clue what they are!
Update: Compatibility Mode for Windows XP (SP3) works for the most part. After a while it reverts back to not showing me anything. So I just restart it. I guess whoever closes threads can do that now, unless you have a better fix
I really do prefer the original
Also just noticed that you said The Sims 2, 3, and 4. This is The Sims 1 I am talking about here.

Re: The Sims 1 Complete Collection- No sound
I think you misunderstood- I didn't mean music, I meant a little tune when you first start up the menu to install it.
But anyways, that's not an issue anymore
