Sims 3 fails to run properly after ages without use.

I had received a file/repack of The Sims 3: Complete Collection by a valued member in these forums, due to some glitches I had with installation of some packs. It has been a couple months since I last played, and I decided to get back into it. However, it doesn't seem to wanna run properly anymore. It's gotten.....INCREDIBLY slow; almost game-breaking slow. I didn't change anything to it, and everything ELSE runs just fine.

I'd try uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but I no longer have repack file I was given oh-so-long-ago. And the source I got it from no longer has it either.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Hello and sorry for the belated reply,

From your message I assume you are talking about either Sim Architect or Tarac, who seemingly gave you that "repack file". Please note that neither of them is active on the Forum anymore, plus we oftentimes don't know how other uploaders pack their stuff.

That said, once installed those games don't usually "corrupt themselves". Try going under Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and delete the following files. CASPartCache.package, scriptCache.package, compositorCache.package, and simCompositorCache.package.

Then try running the game again. Good luck!



Edit: did you change anything about your computer, maybe change the graphics card...?
