The Sims Carnival Snapcity: Problems with Crack.

Hi. So, Avira was making false-positive alerts on Snapcity, and I've found that the version that comes with the G4TW bundle actually is the RLD release, with was a bad crack back then. They don't removed SecuROM, just put an VM to bypass it   (this also impacts the performance). VTY has properly fixed this release, and also haven't any problems with false-postive (my bet is that either the VM or Securom is what the AV detects). Also, while the RLD .exe is almost 16mb, VTY isn't even 1mb.

Unfortunately, BumperBlast has only 1 release (by VTY) that also gets false-positive, so for it the only solution was turning off the AV   (and yeah, the Avira Exception List isn't working for those .exes for some reason).

Is the issue problematic, that you feel we should consider a re-release for BumperBlast/Snapcity? Back then I wasn't really able to find a different version of the torrent. There are of course torrents that are only released in "exclusive circles", maybe that's where you found the VTY-repack? 

Also, I probably don't need to tell you that most commercial antivirus software is plain garbage. That is not an argument against your statement of course, but still something to take into account. 

If you have a link to that VTY-release, feel free to e-mail me (red button under my signature). But since this is one of the torrents that is really just an "extra" in our catalogue of downloads - a.k.a. it does not have that many seeders -  I'm not sure if there is much point in a re-release.

Mine VTY .exe I got from gamecopyworld. I agree that it isn't worth a re-release, since the RLD stills work and most machines today won't suffer from the performance impact (also, > Snapcity < xD). Still, I've read somewhere that you guys are re-repacking those .rar to .7z, so if this game gets an re-repack, it would be worth changing for the "good crack" XD (I can be one of the first seeders if this ever happen e.e). Also, since no one have talked about it here, I wanted to be a "first" reporting this if ever happens to someone came in to the same issue (not only in Snapcity, since a lot of groups actually haven't properly cracked things on the past).

And yeah, while those AV are garbage, at least I like Avira for effectively "locking" some files on temporary folders when I *accidentally* make some mistake on my browsing e.e  No much anyway, but to be honest, BumperBlast is the first .exe that I can't make an exception =/

Interesting...I admit I did not look on "gamecopyworld" (though I am familiar with the site, and have gotten a few things from there too). I will check it out, nonetheless!

If anybody experiences the issues described by the OP, feel free to try a different type of No-CD patch:

Extract with 7-zip and then copy-paste the file(s) under C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims Carnival Snapcity, or C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims Carnival Snapcity, depending on which file(s) you grabbed.  Replace the existing .exe, if prompted. And if your antivirus gets triggered, ignore the "warnings".
