Error; Unable to start game.

I've looked around for an answer but nothing I've read has helped.

Problem;
When launching The Sims 3 from the launcher I get to a black screen and then an error message pops up saying "Unable to start game Service initialization failed (0x024e424f).
When hitting the Ok button everything closes down.
Launching the game through TS3W.exe causes the same problem.

System;
I'm running Windows 7, 64bit. The basic version of The Sims 3 is 1.29.55.01.4002
I've installed everything up to Town life stuff.

Solutions tried;
The first time I installed The Sims 3 everything went fine and I could boot it up, but when trying to load into any neighborhood it crashed on me. So I decided to re install everything, in case I had messed up somewhere. And that's where I'm at right now.
When cracking I carefully followed the instructions and put every crack into the right folder. I downloaded eadm manually to make sure that got installed as well. I also downloaded the updater provided by you and ran that, then re cracked everything.

Now it's the 6th time I've re installed The Sims 3 and I'm getting tired of this.

Hello,
Did you use the latest ultimate fix? Note that it was updated on January 25th. You can get it here.
This error is usually caused by a problem with the crack, it could be outdated or misplaced, so I'd recommend redownloading and reapplying it.
Are you using mods/cc at all?

No mods, no cc, nothing. And yes, I downloaded all the latest cracks and updates from this website.

I decided to install Pets, to see if that would change anything. And it did!!
Now I can actually launch the game, But, the problem I described before is happening now.
When loading into a neighborhood it stops the loading timer, music stops and I get the windows error message that the program has stopped responding.

Any tips on this one?

Are you still getting Service initialization failed (0x024e424f)?
If so, can you show a screenshot of the folder you copied the crack to? Preferably one that shows all the "detail" of the files in the folder.

No, I got past that part by installing pets, now, as soon as I try loading a neighborhood the loading bar doesn't load, the music stops and then Windows gets me the error message that the program has stopped working and has to close.

Hello,
See if you can run the game here. You never know what comes up. Test the base as well as the Pets expansion since that one has other requirements than the rest.

Yes I pass the bar by far on both, the entire thing filled up with green! Love my monster computer <3
Still though, no luck with anything.. I might just go back to The Sims 2 if this keeps up!

You didn't by any chance use the crack that came with Pets? And you're sure your base game is version 1.29?

Well, since I did the first steps sent to me and changed the administration on each .exe file I'm not able to open the launcher. Opening the game through TS3W.exe launches the game directly though. And yes, I used the crack that came with the pets downloaded from this site. I also double checked before I posted anything here what version of the basic game that I had and it was 1.29.

Yea, I downloaded that one just now, But it doesn't have pets in it. Am I missing something or downloaded the wrong file?

Hello,

The crack goes into the base game folder and is the same for all The Sims 3 games and expansions.
If you're not sure, just read the included instructions and start from step 1.

Alright, done! And now it actually loads for me! But now The Sims 3 is giving me an error.

"A serious error has occurred while loading 'Sunset Valley.sims3'. It is strongly recommended that you restart the application."

I've actually been dealing with this myself the past few hours, in addition to other problems, try this:

1. Go to: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
2. Backup (Read: copy to an other folder) the folder called "The Sims 3".
3. Now completely remove the "The Sims 3" folder from: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
4. Start the game and see if it works now.

Service initialization failed (0x024e424f).

all message "Service initialization failed" are generated by game protection check via ORIGIN.

the message is related to non original main files of the game.

wrong date stamp of original exe, different bytes size, black listed serial and many similar detection like the use of Virtual softs..

the best think is to install the whole game without the use of EADM/Origin.

when asked in install the EADM/Origin

- just SKIP the request the game work great without Origin..

(that is for DVD user)

I'm actually experiencing the exact same problem. And it started after I did the win 95 compatibility (to see if that would cure some random crashes I've had). If I remove the folder, the game loads fine but only that first time. The weird thing is, that I had already uninstalled (with youruninstallerpro) and reinstalled but the problem persists. My launcher has also stopped working around that time, so it seems like we're dealing with the same problem here. I'm tackling it again today so if anything comes up, I'll be back to let you know.

when you start first time there is no store , but not the case on second play..

Hello,
I think I may have found the solution! After I started getting these issues, I undid the win95 compatibility mode, but that didn't help causing me to believe something else caused my problems so I did a complete reinstall, only to find the same problem persisting. After reading you tried the same fix and started experiencing the same problems, I got an "aha" moment and a google search came up with this. As you can see, this is about problems with compatibility mode and winzip, but the instructions apply to TS3 as well and after following these instructions, my launcher starts, my game starts and my save games load.
I hope it'll work for you to, please let us know the result.
