Creating a second mod folder for a separate installation?
Hello, G4TW! I come to you today with a question about The Sims 4:
I'm creating a secondary installation of TS4 (by copying and pasting the "The Sims 4" file from program files into a new directory) and I wanted to know if i could make a second mods folder for that other installation. I was hoping the original would be for regular gameplay, and the secondary one for Wicked whims and stuff. Could I do that? If so, how?

Hello and welcome,
All Sims 4 installations read mods and CC from the same location, namely Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods. So creating a 'secondary Mods folder' will just lead to it not being recognized by the (secondary) Sims 4 installation.
There is a possibility of renaming the Mods-folder back-and-forth, and though it's a safe method you have to do it right (which can be tricky). You can try something that is similar to this here:

Other than that, why not just keep these 1-2 mods in? When the DRM-free (cracked) version of Sims 4 gets updated next time, just remove the mods again.

OK, that does change the situation (a bit). You can also create a separate Windows user account just for yourself, and you will have a Documents-folder for yourself as well, which you can customize freely. I believe though you would still need to install The Sims 4 separately again, on the new Windows account.

You can also play the wicked whims in a different language.
That will automatically create a new folder in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
