How To Download Strangerville with BD ROM
Hi everyone,
I'm really bad at tech stuff so I hope I can ask my question clearly.
I installed all the Sims pack in one go (I can't find the forum link anymore). It's the one where you have to install it on a fake 'disk' on the computer. Ex. I used powerISO to get it down on the computer. The Sims isn't on my C drive. I think it is on the I:\ drive.
Now I want to add on the Strangerville pack which I have. But I got lost with the instructions.
So the instructions tell me: NOTE 4: If you have your game installed on a non-C: drive, you may also need to change the registry entries
to accomodate the particular hard-drive the game is installed in. Press the Windows key + R. Type "regedit"
in the small window, and hit Enter. Now edit the drive letter under "GDFBinary"and "InstallDir", here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Maxis -> The Sims 4
And edit the drive letter under "GDFBinary", "GDFBinary64" and "InstallDir", here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Wow6432Node -> Maxis -> The Sims 4
Simply double-click on the given registry entry, and edit it. Save the changes of course. We will keep you
posted in future updates and on the Forum, should we find another (easier) way to change the display
language.

So I try the regedit thing, I found HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Wow6432Node ->
But no Maxis in that file.
I also don't quite understand what it means to edit it. Am I just changing the file names? From what to what? I can't find the Maxis file anyways... Can anyone help?

You can ignore the registry editing part - the game works fine without those keys or even with keys set to wrong location.

Aha! Thanks for letting me know.anadius wrote:You can ignore the registry editing part - the game works fine without those keys or even with keys set to wrong location.
So what do I do with the zip file that I have downloaded? I can't copy anything into the I drive like the way I do with C drive files. Ex. I can't even change the file names directly. How do I get the downloaded files onto this I drive Sims folder?

Re: How To Download Strangerville with BD ROM
You can't. You need to copy files from that I:\ drive somewhere else, then extract StrangerVille and and move there too.

Yup. Now you can unmount that disc and delete .iso file if you need disk space.

Welcome to the Forum,
Most of the following doesn't have much to do with "tech stuff".
The topic HERE does actually mention that you need to extract the stuff from the .iso first, and after that you can add new DLC into the install folder of The Sims 4 (= that install folder is what you get after extracting from the .iso). I'll concede though that the person who wrote the topic wasn't a very good communicator (and doesn't speak English too well), so I will add a notice to that thread myself later on to make that point clearer.
Also, the part of the installation guide was from a time when CODEX did their first repack, and incidentally it was the person who wrote the topic about the all-in-one who adamantly claimed that the game "does not work" if the registry entries were incorrect, so I added that part to the install guide back then. If it has become obsolete, and the previous commenter here has said so much, I guess I shall remove that part in future install guides.
The all-in-one .iso was never a part of the official G4TW download list (again, the all-in-one topic actually mentions that fact as well), so the installation guides that you got from the official .rar/.7z repacks cannot necessarily be applied to the circumstances regarding the .iso format.
Yes, but technically it doesn't matter much where you put the install folder. I have seen cases where people put the folder "too deep inside" the C: drive, so like C:\(folder)\(folder)\(folder)\(folder)\(folder)\(folder)\(folder)\The Sims 4. You should avoid that. Better put it "closer" to the root, like with C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4.
