The Sims 3: Generations crashing problems.[SOLVED]

I have The Sims 3: Deluxe edition on the CD. I wanted to get generations from here, but whenever I start the game and get ready to play, I crash.
I was having this problem before I installed generations, but I fixed it with Ambitions and such.
Do I need to/can I install Ambitions aswell? OR can I only have generations installed to use the generations stuff.
I'm unsure what to do, but I tried the Ultimate Fix and it did not work.
I updated the Sims 3 through the Generations installer, and I feel as if I shouldn't have done that..

UPDATE: I updated to 1.29, and fixed why my game was crashing. I'm very skeptical about installing generations/pets now and then using the ultimate fix because the last time I did so, I got a service initiation failure. I will install pets now, and follow all the steps. I will let you know what occurs.

Hello,
If you only updated during the installation of generation, your game is not up to date and the crack from the fix wont work. If you want to use the fix, you'll have to update to 1.29.
Having said that, I'm not sure the fix will work with a deluxe version of the base game, but I'll leave it to Admin to say something definitive about that.
