TS3 Showtime Disk Error, have tried everything!

So I've done everything except for uninstalling and reinstalling and I so don't want to have to do that.
Everytime I open the launcher it tells me to update, the update always fails.
Then trying to play it says please insert disk.\
I've downloaded the ultimate fix and done it to every expansion but when it comes to applying the last crack on the sims 3 game bin it wont let me put the host file in.
HELP please! I haven't been able to play in weeks!

1. Download and happy this manual patch:

(Re-do it if the wizard tells you already have the latest version of
the game)
2. Re-download and re-apply the latest version of the Fix: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems
3. Start the game and let us know the result. Good luck!
