I'm back again :(.[SOLVED]
OK, so I'm hoping this fix will be as quick as the last you provided me with :-)
I downloaded Nraas - MasterController after being tired of waiting for my sim to get an opportunity to resurrect his dead wife.
Loaded the game, and ended up with my old friend the "A serious error has occurred when loading 'town-name'".
Thought, "oh well, that's no good." Quit game, deleted mod, and attempted to reload. Same error.
Tried a different save, one that I didn't attempt to load while the Mod was installed, same error.
Deleted entire mod folder. Tried a brand new game, saved, reloaded, same error.
I still have all my saves, and my .backup's so hopefully they are salvageable. (suddenly waiting for the opportunity seems like the shorter route)
I suppose I should mention that I am using 1.33, all stuff packs, all expansions, and your crack.
Any thoughts?

Hello,
Did you change anything else at that time? Where did you put the mod?

Hello,
Ok have a look at your saves folder, to see if your save game has the "bad" extension.
Also, are you using any other mods?

Hello,
Ok those 2 shouldn't be a problem.
And this problem occurred at the exact same time you started using master Controller, meaning, did you play your game without Master Controller after the latest patch.
Though not common, it is possible that Master Controller messed up your save game, which is why it is always suggested to back up your saves when you install a new mod.
But I'm guessing you didn't do that. And I can relate to that myself because I always tend to forget, it never went wrong though.
Try this:
1. Go to: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
2. Backup (Read: copy to an other folder) the folder called "The Sims 3".
3. Now completely remove the "The Sims 3" folder from: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
4. Start the game, load up a new game and save it.
5. Exit game, and start it again and see if you can load the game you just saved.
If you can, go to the The Sims 3 folder you backed up and copy the saves folder to the new The Sims 3 folder that was created after you removed the other one.

Re: I'm back again :(.[SOLVED]
OK, initially this works. I move my folder to my desktop, start a new game, save, load, everything is peachy.
So then I move my old saves to the new save folder, again everything is peachy, I'm able to load and play.
However, when I exit and try to load any game save again, even the newest save that I made fresh for this folder, I get the same error.

Hello,
The cache's were cleared when krillinfan removed the entire The Sims 3 folder from My Documents\Electronic Arts.
Would you look at your registry again, to look for those win95 compatibility entries?

Re: I'm back again :(.[SOLVED]
I'd tried that initially, didn't have any luck. I'm worried that my saves are gone and that I'll have to start fresh, which I suppose isn't that awful, I'm just wondering why it would affect the other saves like that.

Hello,
Would you consider reinstalling at this point? There's not much to loose since you're unable to load any of your save games, or start and successfully save a new game.
If you backup your save games, they'll work fine with a new freshly installed game. If you reinstall, do it exactly like this:
-Start by installing the base game.
-Now patch it to game version 1.29 with the the 1.29 superpatch.
-At this point you can decide to install everything except for Showtime, or you can patch to 1.31 first. It doesn't really matter which route you take at this point as long as you patch to 1.31 before installing Showtime.
-The incremental (small) patch for 1.31 can be found here.
To find out which one you need, do this:
-Open "Start", type "regedit" in the search box and
then press [ENTER].
- When you're in the Register Editor, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Sims > The Sims 3 OR IT MAY BE IN:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sims > The Sims 3 (Windows 7, Vista)
-Here you'll see a file called "SKU". Double click on it, look at the value and download the matching 1.31 patch.
-After you've successfully installed everything, download the manual patch and the latest fix.
-Install the 1.33 patch you downloaded in the previous step.
-Look at the fix and open the #crack folder, these 2 files should be applied as specified in step 13 in the fix's installation guide.
If you need any help, please let us know.

Re: I'm back again :(.[SOLVED]
I'm not entirely certain what happened. I was unwilling to reinstall (simply takes sooo long to do) so I cobbled together a few of the ideas we've had. First I cleared out the folder, then I started a new save at each of the worlds I'd had previously. Then I'd take the meta.data from each of the new worlds and moved them to my old saves. After that I cleared out the new folder of everything. Started from scratch again, played a brand new sim for a while. Then I brought my saves back (5 saves, 3 different worlds, in case that matters) and voila they were working again. I'm giving Lady Eldi credit, because suggesting a reinstall made me try everything I could think of :-) So thanks!!!
