Help with Installation of Sims 3

Can anyone help,

I have recently had to replace the hard drive on my computer and so had to attempt to re-install the SIMS 3. On the first attempt all looked well got the base game installed, High end loft stuff and Ambitions installed. I then attempted to load Nightlife which failed to even install. I then updated my game to 1.33 which then caused the immediate error on the launcher asking me to refer to the logs and my version was recorded as 0.00.00.

Subsequently whenever i tried any update this would happen to the launcher. I have re-installed the base game about 5 times now and cannot even load ambitions as this requires an update. I always deleted all the game files and the registry before re-installing and have tried everything on the forums. Can anyone please help as i just want to get back into the Sims!!!!!

My computer runs on XP, Quadcore and has a NVIDIA geForce 7300 GS which is up to date.

2. Re-download and re-apply the Ultimate Fix: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems
3. Start the game and let us know the result.

Ps. Read the instructions that come with the Fix VERY carefully and note that you need AT LEAST one of the following expansions for everything to work: Generations, Showtime, Pets, Town Life Stuff, Master Suite Stuff.
