Start up error after BIG fix
Ok my problem differs just enough from most other threads on here that I felt it needed its own spot.
My issues with Sims 3 have made it completely unplayable since that horrid patch a few months back that shut down my launcher and pretty much made the base game incompatible with all the other games. The "Please install latest patch" notes that kept coming up made me want to hurl the computer out the window since without the launcher, those new patches couldn't be touched. I bought on disk the following expansions.
- World Adventures
- Generations
- Ambitions
- Pets
- Outdoor Living
- High end Loft
- Nightlife
And now none of them are compatible with the base game since that patch. Someone directed me to that big fix you have here. I downloaded it and followed all the instructions. Now it at least gets to the launcher, sort of. But now this message keeps popping up;
There was an error during startup. Please see the Log for more details.
Now I'm not totally computer savvy but I've been looking for this Log and can't find it. I also have looked into fiddling with the registry files like another thread said one should do if this error popped up but since I never ever uninstalled those games, what in blazes am I supposed to change? Aside from completely uninstalling and losing 3 years of gameplay (I also can't find any of my saved families or anything and thus cannot figure out how to copy them and save them elsewhere. Have done this once before and all the families became corrupted and unplayable), which I don;t think will work as I will still need that bugged patch to remotely play the game and the problem will just start over.
I just don't know what to do. Gave up playing it for good which really sucked since it's one of the few games I can sit down and safely show my son how to build things and have fun without shoot-em-ups. Then I got hope...which got flattened yet again. Blargh

Hello,
First of all, don't worry, we'll get this game to work together. Just be patient and your patience will be rewarded.
Now, you can backup your savegames at any time, following THESE instructions.
The "Error during startup." error is 100% a registry problem. It could be several things, but let's start with this: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t4650-the-sims-3-error-during-startup-video-fix-out-now . You really want to watch that instruction video and follow everything done there.
Please let us know the result and good luck!

Ok I've gone and followed the instructions, but since I have all those games actually installed, should I still delete it all? I have not uninstalled anything

Hello,
No, as described in the video, only remove the ones that shouldn't be there. E.g. it shows up in the registry, but you do not have it installed.

Re: Start up error after BIG fix
Ok. Well everything in the registry is fully installed. Though for some weird reason my High End Loft stuff expansion is sitting in a seperate harddrive to the rest, even though they interacted together fine for near a year.
(I have a gaming pc. Multiple harddrives and constantly updating the graphics cards and RAM. Been doing this for half a decade now, no problems till that patch)

Hello,
Yes I've noticed that you are. Unfortunately I can't help you or I would.
Admin could be here within an hour, but it could also be later than that.

Re: Start up error after BIG fix
If I disconnect from it, doesn't mean I'm away. Most likely it's because I'm gaming and didn't check back quick enough. Will be online for another couple hours.
