Wifi extender
Hi all,
I'm looking for a wifi extender which isn't too expensive, because it only has to deal with 1 room. I've been searching and the cheapest I found was €43,-. This is not too expensive but it hasn't got the option to use cable. As far as I could see most of the wifi extenders only extend the wifi signal and not any possibily for cable. I've looked for a router which could be used as a extender with cable option. It's more expensive and I read, 2 routers in one modem could issue port forwarding. I want a open port because I need that for gaming and my brother's running a server on his computer :p. So I thought, maybe you can help me out? I need something which can run on the same modem as the router downstairs (I need it on the second etage), without port forwarding issues, with cable options...
I have good experiences with this forum, so that's why I came back here I hope you know something. Oh and I tried to connect the cable from downstairs to upstairs but it failed, it went broke somewhere in the wall..
With kind regards,

Hello,
I think that what you're looking for is called a router. Or another device to extend the router's wifi signal?

Re: Wifi extender
Hi,
No we have one router in the house of course. But the signal isn't reaching my room on the second etage properly. That's why I am searching for an extender. A second router requires a second subscription which wasn't the plan. Neither connecting both 2 routers to the one modem because that would cause NAT type problems (strict port for example, which disables port fowarding).
So I was looking for a wifi extender with a possibility for a cable which I could connect to my devices.

Hello,
You could consider a USB wifi antenna for your and use a long cable to hook it up to your pc. I used to "borrow" my neighbours' unsecured WiFi like that. My cable was 5 m. You could be done for €15.
If you're creative, you could even run it outside your window and into the livingroom, keeping your antenna close(r) to the router. You'd have to properly protect it from the elements of course.

Re: Wifi extender
Theres things called Ethernet over power, but its nothing to do with Wifi.. Its an ethernet port which can be plugged into the power socket and used that way..
Or, a repeater if you genuinley only want wifi to be extended. They basically repeat the signal of your wifi (one youve selected, as they can repeat any wireless signal)
They vary from 30+

Re: Wifi extender
Firstly thanks for the help! I looked for such a thing but, if I buy anything I want it to last for 5+ years so I looked for a 1000MBps thing you have to plug in to the router and into the room you want to extend. I have to look if I buy such a thing - it costs at cheapest 100euro and if you don't be careful you pay 100euro per thing - 200 euro in total.
It depends on how much money I will have left from buying a all round PC I need. Can you (all) help me finding a cheap all round pc? If so I will open a detailled topic of what I search for exactly.
Thanks!
