Sims 3 update not working. [CLOSED]
Hello
I have many times downloaded your fixes and they have always worked, even if it said invalid file. Now, I downloaded Showtime also and did as written in "How to install Sims 3 correctly", downloaded the manual patch as my computer said again that invalid file. But when I start the manual patch, it says "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate." I have tried uninstalling Showtime and also tried with crack that is in Showtime download and tried with the one in FIX, and then try to install the update but still doesn't work (I have every sims 3 pack and excpansion packs, not Katy Parry stuff). As I always choose custom install, I install everything to my Local disk D , to keep OS system files and the game files separately. So I did for every Sims 3 packs folders to the D disk.
Please help!
Thank you!

Hello,
It shouldn't be a problem to install the manual patch to a game that hasn't been installed in the default location. My game is on D: and the patch install as it should.
Try redownloading it.

redownload what? I have tried redownloading patch and also the Sims 3 Showtime. I tried now to move the manual patch to my D: disk but still says the error "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate." Do I have to redownload the whole game? All of the packages?

Where did you download the patch from? Remember to download your patch here:
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/TS3_1.34.27.0160xx_update.exe
Is this the exact link you used before? Don't use the launcher (the game's dashboard thing) to download patches.
Did you crack the game? Remember not to apply the crack until you have patched. Applying the crack is always the last step. Install, patch, and then crack.
When you installed the game did you correctly install it to local disk D? Did you copy and paste the base game and the packs to disk D from another location? That would cause the patch installation problem.
You mentioned invalid file errors a couple of times. When are you getting these errors? If you get these errors then whatever you were installing did not install correctly. Can you tell me what you were installing when you got invalid file errors?
Does your computer have the proper specification to play the sims 3? Do you have enough space on your hard drive, enough ram, and a strong enough video card? Make sure that all the basics are covered.
It might just be that something went wrong when you were installing the game to local disc D. If nothing else works you can uninstall everything and reinstall it in the default local disc C location and see if that makes it work. I suggest first uninstalling everything and then just installing the base game and the latest patch. See if it solves the error.

Well thank you for the help. I'll uninstall then everything

Hello,
I really don't think you have to. If the game worked before, there's no reason to think something went wrong when you installed it.
It's possible that something went wrong when you first tried to patch the game, in which case you only have to reinstall the base game.
